Rumor has it that Centurion is announcing the return of the 5mm Remington Magnum rimfire.

TC lists a barrel for the 5mm rem for the G2 in their 2008 catalog. 8)

If so I am getting one if someone makes them (come on savage) again or I find an older rifle!! I always wanted one!
I was even thinking of getting one and doing the conversion on it!

I'm interested in the reasons for wanting a 5mm rem. I had one about 20 years ago and finally gave up due to lack of ammo. It was about 2300fps and was great then but it seems that my 17HMR is faster and for sure more accurate. I'm the LAST person to critisize buying a rifle on a whim but what is the attraction??

I don't see any reason for one

but then I did see a BIG sign at one of the SHOT show booths announcing 5mm rem rimfire ammo!

Glad to hear you saw this at the SHOT show.
The need here is for coyote hunting at night. The 5mm Rem Mag has
more energy than either the 17HMR or 22 Win Mag.
Here in MI, only rimfire and shotgun is legal after the sun goes down.
