I have had really good luck using IMR4350 at 41.5 grn shooting AVG 2638fps. 200 yrds ny groups are under an inch i live in north dakota where temperature is extreme cold and up to like 85degrees and had lick so far no matter the temp

Man, I'd like to see what 26 does in that sucker. It looks good on paper.

First try.

Looks pretty darned SLEEK to me.. I imagine that will be a deer slaying son of a gun.

Those are definitely sexy, long bullets. Should work very well for deer (and perhaps other, larger game).

I couldn't resist and ordered a 6.5 Creedmoor this afternoon.
After the big Spring maintenance shutdown I usually buy something after 3 weeks of straight 12 hour shifts as a reward for surviving.
Looking forward to working with this and maybe finding a good load that will work for the boys.

You have made a good choice; I certainly like the 6.5 Creedmoor. Looking forward to seeing the rifle and how it performs once you're able to wring it out.

Did a little more testing with RL26 using 143 ELD-X bullets, this time treated with HBN coating.
It took about .5 gr more powder to equal velocities but I worked it around the test I had done that showed 48 gr to give me 2999 fps and tight group.
Using HBN the results were:
26" barrel, Nosler Brass 52.70 H2O, BR2 Primers.
48.4 gr Coal of 2.890" 5 shots @ 100 yards .490" ctc including the shot I pulled, av vel 2986 fps ES of 10 SD of 4.5
48.5 gr Coal of 2.885" 5 shots @ 100 yards ..376" ctc av vel 2990 fps ES of 10 SD of 5

Man, I'd like to see what 26 does in that sucker. It looks good on paper.

WOW! Man, you aren't wanting for much of anything right there. Might need to give them a shot in my 6.5x55. It seems to really like RL26 with the 140 Accubonds. Might need to give them a shot with the heavier Hornady's.

That is a killer load right there. Nice job.

Did you get some powder crush?

If you haven't tried 26, it is amazing stuff. A group of us have been calling it pixie dust as where a powder like RL22 fits in a case, it gets speeds like RL25 or better. It is AMAZING stuff in the WSM's, 270/280, 6.5 Swede, 243, 25-06. I really like it alot. Been using it in quite a few cartridges.

I agree that RL 26 is a great powder and hard to find on shelves. I don't like buying a pound or two plus pay the haz - mat fees unless i am buying several varieties / pounds of powders. I still have about a pound and a half left of RL 25 that I like to finish. RL 26 and IMR 7977 is my next choices of powders to try in the 7mm / 300 Magnums. If I need to pay the haz mat fee to try the RL 26, I will do it.

Yes you can hear it starting to crush, but remember I did test up to 49 gr of it with the same bullet and it fit. Did not have pressure signs at 49 gr but according to QL the velocity of 3054 fps was high. QL shows 70,538 psi to get the speed I was getting with 49 gr. I did see pressure signs after close to 100 rounds without cleaning, was getting spikes in velocity and had 6 cases with ejector marks. Primers and pockets were still good and it did not have heavy bolt lift. Some of the guys that had worked with Pressure Trace say that is common to not see any sign of over pressure until in the 70k mark.
I am pretty happy with the 48.5 gr load with HBN powder coat, it is well within pressure limits.

I have a 1000 of the Federal GM215M primers coming in to see if I can reduce SD a bit, some of the guys using RL26 say that Mag Primers help, so I decided to go with the Match Large Rifle Primers. They had them at Cabelas split Hazmat with a bud and it cost me $50.00 total for the 1000

Tried the GM215M primers in my 6.5 Creed using RL26 and HBN coated bullets.
The 130 ELD-M bullets seemed to like the Mag primers, ES dropped into the single digits with good groups at 100.
The 143 ELD-X bullets ES opened up, strange they would shoot several almost ditto on velocity and then one would be 15 - 20 fps up or down. Worked up and down the loads that worked out for the BR2 primers, and tried seating shorter and longer by .010" still the same thing. Groups were between .300" and .470" CTC at 100 yards. Velocities were checked with Magnetospeed Sporter.
My sweet spot with 143 ELD-X was 48 gr of RL26 @ 2990-3000 fps, with HBN coating had to come up .5 gr to match non coated, with mag primers it jumped back up so I reduced .5 gr back to 48 gr to match velocity. Tried from 47 - 48.5 gr at .5 gr jumps always same result with mag primers.
Still too early to make a solid conclusion with my set up but it appears the lighter bullet gets a gain from faster ignition were as the heavier does not need it.
The 130's shoot best at the 3000 fps mark as well and I will be testing the new JLK 130 VLDs with both the BR2s and GM215M primers.
Anyone else try these primers with RL26?

Wow! I've been very happy with RL16 in my Creedmoor, but it looks like I'll have to give RL 26 a try also. Very impressive performance you are getting!
