6.5 Creedmoor 143 X-Eld Load

Man, I'd like to see what 26 does in that sucker. It looks good on paper.

Did a little more testing with RL26 using 143 ELD-X bullets, this time treated with HBN coating.
It took about .5 gr more powder to equal velocities but I worked it around the test I had done that showed 48 gr to give me 2999 fps and tight group.
Using HBN the results were:
26" barrel, Nosler Brass 52.70 H2O, BR2 Primers.
48.4 gr Coal of 2.890" 5 shots @ 100 yards .490" ctc including the shot I pulled, av vel 2986 fps ES of 10 SD of 4.5
48.5 gr Coal of 2.885" 5 shots @ 100 yards ..376" ctc av vel 2990 fps ES of 10 SD of 5

Wait, this is in a 6.5 Creedmoor????

It works excellent with the 147, can't see why it wouldn't work just as well with the 143.

This is a group from Hornady Precision Hunter 143 EXDX ammo out of a Tikka T3X Stainless. I pulled a couple bullets and the powder charges range from 41.2 to 41.6 grains of H4350 seated to 2.805. Velocity averaged 2,630 fps. 2.805” is 0.126” off the lands in my Tikka. A friend has been loading these to 42.2 grains with outstanding accuracy with Nosler brass.

The top shot was the first shot of the day a fouling shot. I shot the rest of the target and used this bullseye last.



I couldn't find the right seating depth / powder combination earlier in the day with handloads and other bullets.

I know, my Model 70 shoots bugholes with 130 Ballistic Tips at 0.090" off and these now at .126" off. Kind of surprising, I always thought the bullets had to be at the lands for accuracy but shows how little I know!

What rifle is this in? I just picked up a Tikka T3x and have loaded H4350, but am going to try some RL26 as I have been loading the 143 ELDX.

Redding bushing die .290 for .001 tension
Redding micrometer seating die
2.898 oal which is 0.050 off lands (and incidentally the farthest the bullet can be seated while keeping the BT below the neck)
Tikka T3x CTR, 20”
2740 ish fps.

No problems with SD (8)or ES (16).

Velocity was lower than expected, but fast enough, it groups well, and has been consistent.
