...the 140's are showing some promise, but I didn't have any "called flyers". I shot 5 instead of 3, but I don't know if the "zingers" were me or the bullets...



...using the 140gr. Sierra MatchKings as a baseline...



...absolutely no data for the 140gr. DeepCurls, & apparently they are pretty touchy, so I started @ 41grs. of RL-17, working up to 42.5grs. According to the QL data Scotty was kind enough to send me, I'm still well below max @ 2800fps, & will try to heat them up a little...

Try a 140 amax, they work great on game. I have shot several deer and antelope.with the amax bullets in several calibers and they have all performed well. I think I have a few laying around here if you want to try them. PM me if you want them.

...but,I shot a doe w/ the AMax last yr., twice. First time in a long time I've had a deer take off & jump a fence. Both bullets appeared to enter, keyhole, & exit...

Darn, that's pretty serious accuracy. What about the 123 AMax or SST? Seems like those could be launched hard out if your rifle. BC is pretty good on them too.

I'd imagine you could he any of these bullets sorted out with enough time.

...I was perfectly happy w/ the 140gr. AMax till I used 'em on that doe last yr. I took some pics, but I have never been able to figure out where Windows 8 downloaded 'em to. I've got a few other options, so I not really panicked to find something I'm satisfied w/. I know some people (G&A Forums) swear by the AMax, then again, I know a few people that think the Sierra MK is a perfect hunting bullet, to each his own. I'm a curmudgeon so my idea of how a bullet should act is probably pretty archaic. Partions & GrandSlams were new & exciting when I was growing up, Silver Tips & CoreLocks were the norm. I'm willing to give up a little accuracy & some BC for my idea of "terminal performance", don't keep me from trying to find what I consider the best combination of the three...

...I'll probably try them when I find some, but Noslers of any kind have been pretty sparse around here, & all of a sudden, well over the past couple of years, there's been a sharp increase in the number of 6.5mm shooters. Retailers are spending their money on trying to restock .243, .270, .30-06, .308, etc., they're not real interested in something that was a minor sales item. If they get some, "fine", but most of 'em are more freaked out about hunting season arriving, & only having one or two boxes of .243's...

I understand this from the retailer's point of view.
The dearth of reloading components has caused me to buy what I think I might want in the future over what I need now. It does make for good trading material however.
So far this year I've managed to lay in a stockpile of bullets and powder that I can use by trading components, all new and unopened, that have proven not to work in my rifles. When I see something I think I might want to try I buy what I can afford, be it one box or pound, five, or even eight.
If it works I'm set for supplies. If not, back to the store the still new stuff goes for something else to try. To me there is nothing much more frustrating than developing a load that works and then not being able to find the components again.
I had that happen to me before and vowed to not have it happen again.
