Been shooting a 6.506 for 6 years and love it. Not sure why to change as 4831 has pegged the 10 hole consistently... (outside of its just fun to shoot). But, wondering about RL 22 but no data available for the BT and Part. from 120 to 140 on the site. Suggestions?

A-Square just standardized the 6.5-06 with SAAMI a while back.
Should be pretty much the same as what you're shooting.
Great cartridge by the way.
 
Cool cartridge. Love those 6.5's. What sorta rifle are you running it in?
 
I put an ER Shaw barrel on a Springfield action with a bishop stock. Tried to build comparing to an 06 my Dad sporterized in the 60's when he was a gunsmith. My 2 favorites to shoot.
 
I find that A Square changed the shoulder from 17 to 18 degrees. Think I like staying with the 17.

I was going to build one a few years back and was looking at the specs when A-square got it standardized by Saami and saw where they kept the shoulder at 17*, if you look at the on line Nosler reloading manual you'll see were the Sammi drawing for the cartridge shows the shoulder at 17* and you should be able to use Nosler brass in your rifle. I didn't build mine at that time because the specs were all over the place for reamers and had to have custom dies cut to match the chamber so I didn't do it.

I'm building one now on the Rem-built 03A3 action I bought here from Dave.

Had a swept-back FN-style handle welded on, and a #1 contour 24.5" 1-in-9" twisted tube is being installed next week. A milled BM/TG unit is on its way to my smith for contouring. I'm planning on a Timney FW as light as is safe, a wisner/chapman shroud safety, and S&K rings & sculpted bases. I've got a silver VX-II 3-9x40mm LRD set aside for this rifle.

Dave sent me a walnut stock that, other than a rollover cheek piece, matches the Fajen on my other Rem-built 03-A3 in 6-250 perfectly. I'll take em both to a stock guy so he can make this one exactly like the one on my 6-250.

Lastly, metalife plating for the whole barreled action, bases, and rings.

Planning to run 140 gr NBTs and 139 Scenars.

Had flirted with 6.5-280 AI so I could neck down Nosler brass but don't care to have feed ramps messed with and expecting 6.5-06 to be plug & play in that regard.

Anyone have any suggestions on my blueprint?
 
Sounds real good to me and should be a wizzz with those bullets. Very much looking forward to seeing what it does for you. Should be a bank vault sorta rifle when your all thru with it.

What you guys running for dies? I was thinking of a RCBS FLS (I don't use em crept for forming and occasional shoulder bumps), Redding Bushing neck sizer (270 win die/.295 bushing), and Hornady seater.

Maybe a custom Lee Collet Neck Sizer instead of the Redding? I've never used a Redding Bushing die and LOVE the LCNS dies...?
 
The Redding S type dies are more expensive, but will give you the best consistency short of a custom die IMO. If you go with a full length S die https://www.precisionreloading.com/cart ... RE&i=77378, it can be set up to give you a perfect .002 bump on the shoulder and minimize working the brass. A lot depends on how accurate/consistent you want the loaded round to be. Same holds true with the seating die. A good seating die should support and align the bullet in the case as early on in the seating process as possible. The Hornady seating dies have a floating sleeve for bullet alignment that works fairly well. I had some bad luck with the retainer ring wanting to keep coming out on a 22-250 die years ago, but they may have improved on newer versions. I prefer Redding for seating as well, but everyone has their preferences.
 
Will check out the Nosler cases. Have found sizing up the 25.06 has been easier than the 3006 down. Not needing to size the necks with them.
