Found a 6mm improved at a gunshop today. It's a rebarrelled ruger No 1. Pretty interesting rig. Barrel manufacturer and gunsmith are unknown. I've never loaded for any of the improved chamberings. I have read that bolt actions should have the barrel set back a thread to provide a crush fit in the chamber during fire forming to prevent case stretching in the web and subsequent head space issues leading to case failure after one or two firings. How does one get a "crush fit" in a single shot chamber without the camming power of a bolt action? Any other possible issues I should consider? Going back monday for another look.
