After a year of waiting, my gunsmith calls and says my 6 BR is ready to be shipped. (y)
Can't wait and ordering some 105 / 107 grain bullets and powder. The gunsmith had put a 1 in 8 twist 26 inch Bartlien heavy barrel on a custom Remington 700 action, McMillian A5 stock with cheekriser, Jewel trigger with 16 oz break, pillar bedded, with a 20 minute base rail and a rail for the forearm for an Atlas bipod. I'll be adding a NightForce ATAR 5.5-25

Does anyone recommend a great powder for the 6BR? I have used AA-2015 and BenchMark in the past using the 68-70 grain bullets with the 1-13 twist, but this time I'll be using the heavies in the new 1 in 8 twist.

Mark,

Sounds like an awesome build you have there, well thought out. What is the barrel contour? Did you have any fluting done?
Looking forward to seeing some pictures of the new rig.

JD, thanks. It's a M40 contour medium Palma Bartlien stainless steel free floating barrel, and no fluting was done. I just never thought of that since its mostly going to be a bench rifle. Picture was taken before he installed the picatinney 20 minute rail.

Mark,
She is a beauty. My gunsmith used Twisted Barrel for fluting I had 8 straight flutes put on my Krieger barrel 338 RUM build which took about .5 pound off the #5 contour.
The have some pretty cool looking options should you have any interest.

I have a dual purpose 6BR built on an accuraized Model 700. I used 29.5 grain of Hodgdon Varget with 105 Berger VLD Match. I also found and really accurate load using 87 grain Hornady V-Max.
