Thanks, been there. Great site, but looking at the round for varmint use with the lighter 55-70 grain bullets. Wanted some input from others using it in the field instead of in competition.
What is your rate of twist? I have a 243 WSSM which has a case similar to the BR. My twist is 1:10 and I like the Hornady 58 gr moly V-Max with H4895 powder. 3950 FPS and .5" groups with a 22" sporter barrel.
I use the 6BR in Rem. 700 and 20 inch Shilen bull barrel it and likes:
Benchmark 31.1 grn.
Fed. Gold Medal 205
Lapua case
OAL length: 2.253
68 grn. Berger( naked)
BR2015 29 grn.
Fed Gold Medal 205
Lapua case
OAL length: 2.253
68 grn. Berger(moly)
Accuracy at 100 yards, sub MOA, I mean .050- .100 MOA at 100 yards with 5 shots. It does not happen at .050 MOA very often unless factors are perfect but average at .100 MOA. Bought the gun used from a competition shooter and he said it shoots .3-4 MOA and could not ever make it shoot better than that and bought it to rebarrel when Christmas comes up. I makes some load developments and it shot well at average velocity of 3000 fps. All I did was reduce the BR2015 charge from his 31.2 grains down to my 29 grains.
I was happy about the turn of event and told him about that and he wanted to buy it back. HaHa
