Have always thought I should have a 6mm Rem. Have a .243, but the 6mm always looked more intriguing. Just a feeling and not based on reality.

You’re going to like that bullet in the 6mmRem.

I’m pushing that bullet in a 243win with RL26 and getting close to 3300fps. Too 6 does with it. 5 of the six, no exit found, but three of the 6 dropped right there. 2 made 15 yards. One made 45 yards. There was a 7th that I hit on the shoulder and did not recover. :( hate losing one. Should have stuck with double lung.

With the 6mm Rem you’ll have more energy. It’s also an accurate bullet. Small groups at 300 no problem.

I have at the present time two 6mm's, a Rem 788 with a 24" barrel and a Ruger 77 MKII with a 22" barrel which I bought new in 2004. I bought the 788 new in 1976 and it is on it's third barrel and wears a custom walnut stock. I did have a semi custom Rem 700 6mm that I had built, it wore a 24" Douglas barrel but I sold it a couple of years ago. I have always used IMR4831 in both my 243's and 6MM's with the 85HPBT but in the 6mm's my go to powder for 75gr, 80gr and 100gr bullets is RL19. I want to see if I can come up with an accurate load in my Ruger with RL19 and the 85HPBT.

George - my son still hunts with the 6mm 700 BDL that I was given in 1974. I updated the scope to a 3.5-10x Leupold some years ago. He uses it for varmints, whitetail & mule deer and has done real well.

Our favorite load for it is the 95 grain Nosler Ballistic Tip with RL-22 for a bit over 3,000 fps. Accurate & lethal.

Regards, Guy

I load Reloader 19 and Sierra 85gr BTHP with a Remington primer and it flat out is a shooter. My Rifle is just like Guys Remington 700 BDL. I have used this load on Antwlope as well as my Son and I watched him drop one in its tracks at around 400 yards.
It is my go to Coyote round because of its accuracy and performs well in this role not leaving big holes.
