Not bad at all from an AR-15.. My Oly AR-15 24" upper in 243 WSSM stays right with the 243 Win. 62gr Barnes Varmint Grenade with 52.5 grs of Ramshot Hunter zooms out at 3975 FPS

It's a fun gun..80gr Barnes TTSX bullets close to 3400 FPS..

This is my 1st 6x45 I built. OD green furniture and the metal is Cerakote Forest Green. I did change the buttstock to a Magpul ACS. I might sell this one.

Rifle is in Cerakote Muddy River and furniture is flat dark earth..
It has a different scope now also. A Leupold 6.5-20 30mm tubed Vari-X3, side focus, varmint reticle.

The follower is a regular 223 that you take a ball mill to and take off the raised portion right up to the left feed lip. Then you have to lengthen the mag catch recess on the mag body to allow the mag to sit lower in the well.

Sounds like alot just to get the mags working. That's why I like the 458 SOCOM over all of the other AR "Wildcats"

No trouble at all. You can even do it with a Dremel.. Basically takes me 5 or 10 minutes tops..plus, that 458 isn't much of a long range chuck or yote round like that 243 WSSM!!
The 50 Beowulf uses standard 223/5.56 mags also. It shoots 50 cal pistol bullets. It's pretty much a 500 S&W mag ballistically in an AR-15.
For strictly a 300 yard hog or deer AR, the 6.8 SPCII is also hard to beat with light Barne's TTSX..
My next build is the 6.8..
I've got a 6.8 bbl blank staring at me right now begging to have its extension threaded on..

I think taking the WSSM case, blow it to 35, 375 or 416 for the AR-15 would be fun to try out.
If I could just get some of Oly's bolts and bbl extensions.

That 458 should certainly do it. Bullets are plentiful etc. I was going to buy one before I got the 50 Wulf. Not sure how plentiful the brass is now for the 458. The 50 Wulf cases can be bought right from Starline..

Bullets are easy since I already load for the 45-70. Found brass in stock at SBR.
