I have about 300 of the 154 SST's I bought for my 280, but just curious if anybody has ran them in a 7-08. One would think they would do very well on whitetail and black bear..Also if somebody could run a QL on it, I'd appreciate it. Although I'm certain Haley will balk at the idea. If you ask her a 140 AB or NP are the only bullets capable of killing said critters from her '08 and there's no need to chance it..LOL

That Hornady 154 gr would be great for deer. Probably would be good to have a back up load just in case. It could double as a target, plinking, and steel gong buster practice load as well.

Yep, that was my thought as well. Inexpensive and the relatively soft 154 SST at around 2700 should expand great and have plenty of mass to punch through, and a person can acquire enough of them to find a load and keep a decent stash put back. I also gave up on finding the 120 BT to work up a reduced recoil 7-08 load for my grandson, but going with the 120 Prohunter, it should do just fine on deer and plenty cheap enough to get him quite a bit of practice in.
