7/08 loads/QL please

Getting ready to reload my gfs 7/08. Thinking I want to go with the 140g AB for her and a do all load from coyotes to elk and bear. Never loaded for a 7/08 so was seeing what some of you guys recommend for powders to get the velocity and accuracy at the higher end. Hoping for 2900fps and MOA or under. If someone could also run a QL prediction with all powders/max pressure with the 140g AB, 22" barrel, saami length thatd be great. Side note I prefer Hodgons extreme series powder also so thats what id like to go with for lot to lot consistency and temperature sensitivity. Thanks!

I'm interested in seeing some QL data as well. 2900fps with a 140 is going to be really pushing it I think? I would try RL16 personally. I tried it with 120gr bullets in my 7mm-08, but you just can't get enough in the case with a 120.

Looks like rl17 is going to be the clear powder choice for speed as its the only one to hit 2900fps. So I guess Ill start around 44g and go up in .5 and see what happens! Thanks for the QL data as well!

Yeah, RL17 looks good. I believe that it does have some temp sensitivity though, so don't take it too close to max in cool weather and expect to be OK in hot temps. I'm surprised that with RL16, it looks like you still can't stuff enough into the case with a 140gr bullet? Makes me wonder what it would do with a 160gr.

Yah Im a fan of hodgon extreme powders for that very reason. RL powdershsvr always been good to me in the speed and accuracy department, just not so much with lot to lot consistency and temperature sensitivity. Guess I could try some H414, i think its an extreme series powder.

H414 is not an extreme series powder. RL16 and RL23 are Alliants "Extreme" type powders.

I speak from experience in reloading the 140 AccuBond in 4 7mm-08s. All Tikkas, all 47.5 gr Big Game, Winchester Large Rifle Magnum primer, 2.805". One shot one kill antelope at 303 yards, big 5x5 bull elk at 225 yards, good mulie fork at 425 yards. 2860 fps at the muzzle, I can't post pics because Photobucket is the devil, but groups are so small you wouldn't believe me anyway.

My other load substitutes the AccuBond for the Partition, same data otherwise, down to the OAL. I have more on-game experience with this combination, all one shot kills: 4x4 bull elk, 68 yards (not much of a test when you're in bow range), spike bull at 346 yards (complete pass through), big fork mulie at 541 yards, spork mulie at 280 yards. 2887 fps at the muzzle.

I'm experimenting with the 150 ELDX, so far I'm getting amazing (as in .163", I'll send you pics if you want) groups and 2790 fps with single-digit extreme spreads with 46.2 gr Big Game. The 150 really carries the mail, too. If you're shooting at distance the .574 ballistic coefficient really helps.

Remember, all loads are safe in my rifle only, start low and work up.
