i hate to ask and I know it is not ideal for the 7mag but my rifle really likes Reloader 17.
Rifle Tikka 7 mag with a 24 inch barrel
Powder Reloader 17
Bullet 140 gr Barnes TTSX
Primer CCI Large rifle magnum
I would like to try and work up a good load for this bullet and I cannot find any load data. Any help is appreciated.

I try RL-17 and Berger 140gr VLD in my 7mm RM and as Jim noted it’s a bit to fast. RL-22 👍

I was using RL22 with the 150 Nosler ballistic tip in my 7RM. A fantastic bullet and has never let me down. RL22 on the other hand is as rare as hens teeth in Australia now...as are all alliant powders.

Can you get Norma? Norma MRP is basically RL22. I have 4 lbs of the Norma and 6 of RL22, I have used the MRP not the RL22 yet. Norma seems to have stopped importing their powders into US so the Norma I have is likely the last I will ever be able to use. I have URP that is like 4350 and 203B that is like RL15.

No we can't get Norma or any of the Winchester powders either. I believe we are even struggling to maintain supply of our own homegrown shotgun powders. Bit dire eh ;-)

I'd give 17 a try. Same burn rate as 4350 with some extra FPS, especially with 120-140's it should scoot pretty well. 17 is one of my favorites.

Got around to shooting this weekend. I stayed a little uner max with Reloader 17 and my 4 shot average was 3040 fps, sub moa and produced an SD of 5. My rifle like Reloader 17 and I know I can get more velocity with different powders, heck I have done it myself. But, for KY whitetails I think 3040 fps with a 140gr Barnes TTSX will be very deadly.

Nothing wrong with that load.
Nice work!
