I have a 7mm-08 load worked up using 45gr of IMR 4831, 120gr Bal Tips and CCI Mag primers and was wondering if anyone had chronographed using this load. Barrell length is 22".
Cartridge : 7 mm-08 Rem.
Bullet : .284, 120, NOS BalTip 28120
Cartridge O.A.L. L6: 2.800 inch or 71.12 mm

I have always found H414 to produce the highest velocities in the 7mm-08. Oddly enough, it doesn't seem to matter whether you load light or heavy bullets, H414 is usually capable of producing the highest velocities.
Although many powders work well in the 7mm-08, H4350 is my favorite for a good balance between accuracy and velocity with a 140gr bullet.
I have only used IMR 4350 in 7mm-08. 46 grains combined with a 140 ballistic tip or AccuBond with WLR primers has produced 3/4" groups or better in 3 different rifles of the same caliber. Velocity averaged 2850 fps out of 28" TC Pro Hunter barrel.
Thanks for the replies. I have been testing various powders( Varget, W748, W760, IMR4350 and IMR 4320) with 120gr bal Tips and 120 triple shocks with not so good results. Best group with any of these powders was 1.25" @ 100yds. The best group has been with the IMR 4831, 120 Bal Tip, CCI Mag primer. This combination gave 5/8" group @ 100yds.
Trying to stay with the lighter bullets because the gun is my dads and he is looking for the lighter recoil due to shoulder problems.

I've had great accuracy in my 7-08 with H4895. I can't find the targets at the monent but both 120 BT and 140 BT's were well under 1/2 moa for three rounds. It's a thin barreled mountain rifle so after 3 rounds the groups open up, but it's a huntin stick so I'm happy with 3 round groups.
As YoteSmoker suggested 4064 might be a good choice also.
The OAL I run as long as I can get and still function at mag lenght, this varies per rifle. As always, these loads work well in MY rifle. Always start low and work up slowly!!
I am using 43.0 grains of IMR 4064, a 120 grain Nosler Ballistic Tip, and a CCI BR primer. The "book" speed is 3050, although I've never chrono'd it out of my short barrelled Model 7 Remington. The recoil is virtually non-existent. I can shoot deer and watch them fall over thru the scope of this short, lite barreled little rifle.... I love it!!! Plus I can shoot 1/2 inch groups all day long. It's my favorite load, I won't even shoot a 140 gr bullet out of that gun anymore. And it DOES kill deer. Never more than one shot; and a long blood trail is about 20 yds, most are simply "bang, flop" kills.
Any luck yet with a combo ? I have to ask, have you tried a different primer? why the use of the mag primers? * just curious more than anything *
My M700 shoots under a half inch all day....Varmit barrel though too.
48.0gr of IMR-4350 and 120gr B-tips and CCI BR primers are my combo.
Powerstroke, Thanks fo the reply. I did try different primers with not so good results. Tried WLR, WLRM, and CCIM with the CCIM giving the best groups. The only two loads that I have found that group well so far has been with IMR 4831 powder, CCIM primers and 120 TSX or 120 BT. I really did not want to use 4831 in this cal but it is the only powder that I can get to group well. Tried Varget, IMR 4350, IMR 4320, Win 748, Win 760 with no success.
