7mm Rem Mag Favorite Powder

I'm a huge fan of 4831 and have been using it for endless years. I also reload many other calibers that favor H4350. I'm thinking of moving to H4350 for my 7mm on my 160 gr Accubonds. Has anyone else moved from good ol' 4831 to 4350 in a similiar situation? How was accuracy/groups? Should I stay with 4831? I'm just thinking if 4350 works well, I can move to one powder for all my calibers, etc. :grin:

I use H870 it is awsome but hard to find now, try H1000 with the heavier bullets (160-175gr) i have good accuracy and real good speed. Of the ones you mantioned i would use H4831 it's the slowest and generally accurate.

I don't know if I qualify, having a 7 saum but I usr H-4350 with 140 gr. accubonds and H-1000 with the heavier bullets. I have a good load with 61 grs. of H-4831 and 150 gr. partitions. Very accurate and about 2921 f.p.s.

I've wanted to try H1000 as well. Any good load info pushing a 160 gr AB?

I have found a MAX load of 72.5gr H1000 with a 160gr Partition was very good accuacy and 3045fps velocity, the only load i could find better is 80gr. H870 at 3075-3095fps and exstreamly accurate, hope that helps. Start with 67gr of H1000 and work up slowly.

with 140 and 150 grain slugs I like RL19.

H4831 is great w/ 140gr but for the 150-160, I like RL22 or IMR7828. Accuracy is exc. w/ about 100fps more vel. 4350 is just too fast for the optimum results in the bigger case. H870 is very accurate but used to be pretty dirty back when I tried it. H1000 is also supposed to give good results but I am happy w/ IMR7828.

I find that it does dirty the barrel a fair amount more than other powders but for the speed and accuracy i find superior to the others it's worth it. I do'nt mind the extra cleaning.

Hodgdon Retumbo with 160 AB at 3120fps, nice tight groups in my gun.

That's easy, H870. No other powder comes close to the velocities and SDs with the 160 -175 grain bullets. Too bad its been discontinued.

IMR-4831 is just too good to give up. But I am loading more and more with Reloader 22 now.

The 7mm Rem.Mag. is one of those calibers that isn't too finicky. Most slow powders work well in it. Primarily I use IMR4831 for good accuracy. Lately I've been experimenting with VV560 and thus far am quite happy with it. Best wishes.
