For the 150 gr, I would look at the 150 gr PT should you have the possibility of a close range encounter.
You may also want to consider the 160 gr AB, its an awesome bullet.

I used to hunt in Colorado, but now I am in WV. My expected shooting distance has dropped considerably. My shots could be anywhere from 60 yards to 300 yards. I would be willing to sacrifice some downrange energy for a more reliable and consistent result. I had someone load 160AB at one point, but have not seen good patterns with anything. What would you recommend for the 160 AB in my now limited distance 7mm RUM? Thank you for your input.

Maybe I should incldue some information about my equipment. I have a 7mm RUM in the RMEF package. It has the synthetic stock and 26" SS barrel. I have a 6x18x50 Swarovski on top. I had gunsmith I know put a brake on the end and Bass Pro Shops lightened the trigger and reduced the creep. I added a Simms R3 recoil pad.
This gun started out as something headed for the back of the safe. The bite was terrible, I used to bruise after just six shots. Now I can shoot it as much as I like. What is the expected barrel life of my riffle? I am just getting in to reloading. A friend of mine pointed me to you forum because he didn't have any information on 7mm RUM. I really appreciate you time.

Sounds like a nice rig. Due to the close range shots, stay with the 150 gr Partition. The 160 gr PT or AB would work as well.
The 7mmRUM is not too effecient so you are looking at 1500 rounds for barrel life. Make sure you keep it cool when shooting and give it a good cleaning once done.

no offense intended, but, where did you read that you will only get 1500 rounds out of a 7 ultramag barrel? Is that because people load them to hot or what? Just wondering because I am thinking about getting one, but if you have hard proof, i may rethink.

It is a high intensity round but if you keep the barrel clean and keep a cool barrel you will be fine.
