Any field experience with the 85 grain Partition on deer? I ordered some to try in the 243. If they shoot well i may use the rifle when I mentor the disabled hunter this fall.

I load them for my son's 6x45mm AR. Accurate and kill like lightning. The muzzle velocity is an average of 2650fps from a 16" Black Hole Weaponry barrel.

I took a yearling cow elk at 501 with this bullet, it was at the bottom of a steep canyon, so it broke its spine, ranged through its right lung and exited. Also shot a nice 4x4 Whitetail with it last year at 411, it was climbing up a steep hill and it was a spine/lung shot and was almost instant death. Needless to say I love this round. This bullet acts way bigger than it is.

The only downside with Nosler factory ammo, is that they load them pretty hot and there is considerable muzzle blast, however if you are handloading you can work around that. My rifle is a 22".

I shot the 85 gr Partitions in my Browning 20 inch A-Bolt .243 for several years. I only killed two deer with them, both 2-1/2 YO bucks at about 200 yards. Both of them DRT'ed. They also killed coyotes like thunder, out to 400 yards!

Should be a great bullet for your 243 Win.

First used them back in the 1970's, from my then-new 6mm Remington. They worked just fine then.

Typical Partition performance. Opened up quick, and penetrated right on through.

I am a bit in awe of Palouser and his 500 yard elk kill with one... WOW! Congrats.
