I am trying an 8x57 reload but with the 200g AccuBond the load would appear seriously compressed. I think I measured the recipe right from the Nosler manual. But the manual did not indicate compressed loads.

I notice the Accubonds are a lot longer than the old stubby style 8x57 196 grain rounds.

Has anyone else had this experience? Should loads be reduced when using the AccuBond due to bullet length?

If the load appears compressed and the manual doesn't indicate it, triple check everything. Re-weigh the charges and be sure. Nothing like losing an eye or finger to make one wish he had been more careful.

What powder are you using? And are you using military surplus brass? Sometimes the case volume of milsurp brass is somewhat lower than civilian commercial stuff, and that means you have to lower charges to stay safe. Are you working up, or starting at the max charge?

I don't imagine the length of the bullet plays much into the charge filling the case. Things should be relatively similar from the 196, although not identical because the bullet shapes will be different. Not that different, I bet, but different.
