Seeing as the grains a so similar, would the 95 grain or 100 grain Partition tend to shoot better in a 1-10" twist .243 Winchester barrel? I was planning to try the 100 grain pills first, but wanted to get some opinions before starting the load development. Thanks.

I always used the 95 gr PT with IMR 4350. It shot well under MOA from a M70 XTR.

I have shot both out of Remington and can't tell the difference to be honest. I have a bunch of 2nds and will load some for my boy this year. Not a deer alive stepping away from a 85-100gr PT at 2900-3200. They penetrate really well and seem to really hammer deer. It's funny how the little PT makes the 243 seem BIGGER!

I bought a bunch of the 100gn Solid Base Noslers a while back an my Rem 700 243 liked them. Shot a CA blacktail in the chest and down he went, given I was only about 100 yds from him and zero cover. I sat & he stood just looking at each other for like 5 minutes as I was waiting for a broadside shot that never happened. The bullet, pieces of it anyways, was found in his liver.

+1, but from a savage rifle. The 95 BT also shot excellent.

TBASTIAN the only way to know would be to load some up and shoot each to see what works best. Great excuse to do some more shooting! Either one would work superbly though and will do it's normal Partition performance (which is perfect) on deer sized game. That's a great bullet. If neither of those seem to shoot in your rifle with IMR4350, you might try the new 90 gr. E-tip, or the 90 gr. AccuBond if you can find the latter. I sure have been impressed with the E-tip in my son's 6mm Remington.

Just loaded up some 243 with 100gr PTs and RL19. Shooting for 3000FPS and good accuracy. Never hear much about it in the 243 but it seems like if the 4350's work then RL19 should work as well or better. Should get some time with them this week. Scotty

Keep us posted. I have a friend that has some RE19 so if it works for you I may have to borrow some.

I have heard that the design of the 95 grainer is better suited to a 243 so that you can still have max penetration and pick up a few extra fps of mv. This is only hear-say though and I have no experience with either but the reasoning behind it is the same as the difference with the 115 and 120 grain 25-cal slugs. The 115 is for the 257 and 25-06 while the 120 was designed with the 257 Weatherby in mind. However, I have used the 120's in my 25-06 with great accuracy and perfect terminal performance on deer. So either way due to my experience and not submitting to hear-say I think you would be fine with either. Whichever your rifle prefers will be the ultimate decision for you.

Will do. Hope to get some time this week. Have a bunch of rifles that need to be tuned up. Scotty

Ended up getting out to the range yesterday to shoot the 100 grain Partitions loads. 41.5 Grains of IMR 4350 ended up with the best results at 0.95". OAL was 2.570". Now to fiddle around with it in hopes of shrinking the group. I'm going to try 41.7 grains, per the Sierra manual and see what that does. Will also play with the seating depth.

Loaded some 95 grain BT's this morning as well. Might use them for coyotes if I can get a load developed but I'd much rather use the Partition for blacktails.

IMR 4350 41.5 grains - 0.95"
RL 22 42.5 grains - 1.10"
RL 19 42.5 grains - 2.13"
IMR 4831 42.0 grains - 4.17"

Looks pretty good buddy. I have had excellent luck with RL22 and the 95gr BT. Pretty mild load, but it still pushed them into 2850. Right now, I have a bunch of 100gr PT's loaded up with RL19, so I am looking forward to seeing how they work out. Scotty

Nice shooting T... The 95 BT is next on my list of bullets to work up loads for with the .243. I am planning on starting with R19, but plan on loading some with R17 to see what happens (need to find some caliber/bullet combo that this powder works with :? ). I have yet to find a caliber that R17 works better than any other powder for accuracy or velocity. I also think the new Hodgen super performance will be tried.
