A Brace of New Winchesters

Very nice Mike. Those are two very nice 7's. Love them both a bunch. I am looking forward to your work with the 140's in the 7x57.

Very interested in what the 284 does with the ABLRs as well. That could make one awesome deer or whatever rifle. Very cool cartridge.

I feel an itch for a handy M70 in 7x57.

Scratch it, Brian!

Well......better hold off unless I really want my wife scratching the back of my head with a frying pan

Also have a M70 7mm build in the works  Hopefully finished by the first of next year?

Thank you, Fotis. I'm chomping at the bit to get to the range and wring them out.

Boy I'm getting more anxious by the minute just waiting for mine to arrive. I know it won't be as pretty as those two with it's black stock but I'm still waiting for it to arrive.

Yeah, I feel the same way. I'd like to duplicate the good Doctor's pair here (with a couple of CRF actions) and add a 7mm Mashburn and/or 7mm-375 Ruger as well.

Doc,
Two featherweight M70s in two great cartridges! Congrats and looking forward to your report! Those BC critters had better watch out.

Those are some very nice looking Featherweights you have. The next rifle that is brought into my home will be a Featherweight, just not sure of calibre and passing it by the wife. I do like the Mod 70's. Can't wait to see what your range tests show.

So far, my Model 70s (mostly Featherweights) have served me very well. All have produced sub-MOA groups with selected loads. Each has managed to bring home game. These two will have a tall order to fill.

I second that the Mod 70's have served well. My 30-06 Mod 70 I bought when I was 17, and one of the Westerners (internal mag no floor plate) is a sub MOA rifle from day one. The day after I bought mine my dad went and bought a 30-06 Mod 70 sporter, and still using it only today. It would have to be pretty special to steer me away from another Mod 70 as my next rifle.

Not for a while, but I guess I had better be nice, huh?

Honestly, once I find suitable donors, I would probably have a Mashburn built before I built an LRM... I already have a fair amount of .300 WM brass versus having to buy a bunch of .375 Ruger brass.

What the heck, did I just say something practical?

That 7LRM is a pretty sweet case. I like the long neck and the case capacity should be real good!

Congrats on getting those 2 sweet rifles up and ready to sling lead, really wanta hear the reports on the VX6 and the 6.5x284 is on a short list of mine and I will check them fellers out that hooked ya up as it is sweet!
