Finished up two old Mauser project builds today, no worries I would never tear apart war guns, these were just parts and pieces I have had laying around and a couple ole actions from a bygone era of my building rifles.

The first one is in 6.5x55 Swede
Built on a M98 Styer action
Krieger 1:8 twist 22" barrel
Boyds wood stock, with my custom Woodland camo paint job

The second is also in 6.5x55 Swede
Built on a Yugo M44 action
Adjustable trigger
Winchester side safety
Wilson 1:8.5 twist 26" barrel
Boyds wood stock with my custom Urban Camo paint job

As these are old actions I decided to stay with the low pressure 6.5xx55 cartridge and load it modestly. These are just going to be simple target and maybe deer rifles. I am going to gift the M44 to my 13 year old nephew as his first rifle. The other will be added to the collection.

Nicely done! Glad to see the 6.5x55 living on. I've been watching for a Winchester model 70 featherweight to come a long in 6.5x55, but if I can't find one, a Tikka might be my answer. I
I have been a fan of the 6.5x55 for 30 years. Chambered in modern actions, with higher modern pressure loads, it really performs. The new Staball 6.5 powder really has made it shine for me. I have a couple built on commercial actions that hold their own with 6.5-284 Norma!

I have one of each. Like them both, accurate, but if push came to shove, I'd pick the Tikka first. Get one you won't be disappointed.
