A year ago I sold my 280 AI Jarrett Rifle to build a new one geared more towards the type of shooting style that I’ve been improving myself on over the last ten years.

Another GA Precision build with my sourced components except the barrel.

280 AI FMR
Terminus Kratos action.
McMillan A1-3 stock
Trigger Tech Diamond 2 stage ( these work especially well for when the safety is on, it won’t move if it is, and you’ll know that the safety is on since it’s a two stage trigger)!
Bartlein 26” CF M24 7mm 1:8.7 twist
S&B Klassik 4-16x50 P3 Mil-Dot in Area 419 Hunting ring. (These are by far the finest rings I’ve ever seen)!
I also love these Schmidt & Bender scopes for the heavy mil-dot reticle for a FFP hunting scope. So much so I bought another one in a 3-12x42 version with an illuminated P3 mil-dot for woodland hunting in dark terrain and timber.

It shoots the 160 Nosler BT, and 160 Partitions to the same POI/POA which is fantastic to me.image.jpg

Very nice rifle, I never used the A -3, but have A-5 on all my tactical rifles. I regret that the A5 has the butt hook.

The A1-3 I used in this build is a mix of a M40A1, and the A3. I have a A3 too which is without the butt hook, and not nearly as wide in the forend as the A5.

The butt hook is useful for holding the bag in place, and since it has a flat bottom rides the bag smoothly straight back under recoil. Which is a good thing for long range shooting with high precision!

May I ask which type of rear bags you recommend using with the butt hook?

I use a Warhorse Development "old canister" bag for that purpose, or the one above and still do with my Manners stocks that have a butt hook, and flat bottoms like the A5 for shooting prone.

The one above is a Warhorse Development "Clede" made w/waxed canvas Chas made for me many years ago. He makes his own bags and sells them through other retailers. The Clede has a few unique features that allow it to be used for both front and/or rear bag use. As a rear bag it can be bunched up for height, or grab one of the "utters" squeezing it for the required amount of height and firmness you need for rear support to get on target.

I never leave home w/o that bag, and it is the most versatile bag for a lot of reasons! I also use it on top of my Tripod for my range finding Binos, and shooting off the tripod with that bag on top rather than a Hog Saddle or Acra rail attachment! It's faster to get on target, and the rifle moves under recoil off the bag just like it does when used as a front/center rest at every match I've ever been to.... i.e. Metal gate, fence post, tank trap, log, rock, barrel, huge tractor tire, car roof or hood, etc.

Ever since I met him I've been using his bags. Great guy, good father, a Vet, and a avid shooter that makes a solid product in Montana at his home....

I have always wanted a S&B Klassik, but I am a SFP scope user for hunting…hoping to find one someday in the 3-12x42 (if they made one???)

You should look through one, you’d be surprised how the reticle appears throughout the range of magnification in these FFP Scopes.

I have a Burris Veracity FFP on my Bergara B14 Trainer in 22LR
Not a reticle I want on a hunting rifle. And I am not doing long range shooting with my centerfire rifles.
