Accubonds or Partitons?

Im new to reloading so any tips will help Im shooting a 300 win mag I want to know if i should use accubonds or partitions until now i have used factory loaded ballistic tips and the problem i have with them is sometimes they blow up at close ranges where i hunt the average shot was around 160 -200 yards but the last few years i have taken deer at less then 20 yards so im looking for something that will be accrute and still hold together on game between 15-225 yards thanks[/list]

What grain bullet are you using in your .300 Mag?

If you are around 150gr I would stick with partitions.... 180 gr and above Accubonds shound be equally fine for Deer

clawson_rob - a number of years back I took a mid-size wild hog w/one shot using a .300 Win mag handloaded with 180 gr Nosler Partitions. Range was about 40 yards. Mr Piggy went down real quick with a bullet hole all the way through him. Pretty well convinced me that the 180 gr Partition/.300 mag combo was good-to-go for most anything at reasonable ranges.

I've no experience with the AccuBond yet, but reports from others have been quite favorable.

I second the 180gn, but my preference is the AccuBond. Had a close range shot at a hog using my 300RUM. Do a search and you'll find my pics of the recovered bullet and the story. ABs RULE!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd go with partitions in any magnum. The AccuBond has a Maximium impact velocity of 3100 fps so a magnum could push it fast enough to give you trouble. The Partition has no max impact, that is why it would be my choice in a mag.
