Accumark 257 Weatherby Magum Traded For

Here is the 257 Weatherby Magnum Accumark and Leupold 4.5-14x50mm that I traded for and here are pictures he sent me.

He said he used it twice and was accurate with 120gr Sierra HPBT but that was all he tried. I will more than likely use the 110 AccuBond for an all around bullet for this cartridge. I have owned a Mark V 257Wby and loaded extensively for it and also had a 257-300Wby in a Mark V receiver.

Curious if any of you have some pet load you like in the 257Wby please post them and I will compare with what I have done.

I've only ran 100 rounds thro my vanguard, but it loves those sierra 120 HPBT, shoots 0.5"-0.7" groups with them. I think the load was 60 grns of IMR 4350 and a Fed 215, bullet seated almost as far out as the mag allowed, it was 0.02 or a bit more longer than the suggested length. I've got some 115BT's that should be here soon, I want to try them with WC860 & WC868(cheap surplus powder from Pat's Reloading). THe Nosler #6 lists loads with AA8700 & H870, so I'm expecting similar performance.

Thanks for the info. Jordan said he is going to help me reload, if he only knew what an addiction this reloading, shooting, guns and hunting is, I am not telling him, I am just going to let it happen because it is a fun addiction that brings good memories. :lol:

You stll have the `06, the 300 and the 450 Marlin. Hopefully, you`ll be able to keep those? I hope so!

Everyone`s biz is down now, even mine by 35%-40% or so! Like you, I can`t think about going to Africa right now as I was planning to go next year or in `10. Other than the only two I have now, I have no desire to own any more rifles. Luckily, I`m in the minority with having and wanting only two! Saves alot of money that way!

But doing some big bison trophy meat hunts or smaller bison meat hunts are another matter. Alot cheaper, with far less travel and great eating too!

Awesome! I had one and it printed 2,25" groups at 300 yards with 117 Hornady BT's and 100 gr nosler bt's

My 257 Wby. loads for my 24" Vanguard are:

110 gr. Nos. AccuBond
72.5 grs. IMR 7828sc
CCI 250 Primers
OAL= 3.25"
3450 fps.

100 grs. Nos. Balistic tip
76 grs. Reloader 25
CCI 250 primers
OAL 3.25"
3570 fps.

I suspect your velocities will be some higher. These are not the hottest loads but they are pretty warm and real accurate in my rifle.

Greg, thank you so much because I did not use IMR7828 with the 110 in the past nor the Rel 25 with 100gr bullets. I have never been happy using Rel 25 in any rifle in the past and this peaks my interest in it again since I have a lot of it. Thank you once again. Cool :lol:

PS Greg, I use CCI250 primers also, all my mag groups that I have posted are load using the CCI250 primers.

My son Taylor likes reloading more than shooting I think. As long as we can do something together, Thats fine!

JDMAG, Tori my grand daughter is jealous of Jordan and is inserting herself into our conversations about hunting and shooting and hangs around us while we reload. Every once in a while she will ask to push the press handle down when we are seating bullets.

I am shipping my 375Wby out tomorrow and the person I am trading with is shipping the 257Wby out tomorrow so we both should get our rifles by at least next Thursday and Friday being the latest.

When it gets here I will take my pictures of it and we should see a little more detail and color.
