Anyone used the Accurate Magpro powder? I am considering using it in my 300 win mag pushing 180 gr. bullets. I like how it is made in the good ole USA. CJ

I use MagPro with 160 grain AB in my 7mm WSM. This is my hunting load. It is very accurate, providing good velocities. It should work very well with a 180 grain AB in your 300 WM.

I've had good results across several chamberings with MagPro. If you're looking for a good powder, it is one. Only way to know if your rifle likes it is to try it, though. At least it's one of the less expensive powders.

I can't speak to Mag Pro but in your 300 Win Mag with 180 gr bullets, look at RL 22.
Work up to 75.0 grs. Well under MOA in 3 different rifles at the MV is 3000 fps+.
Several others here have had similar results.

I've been using 76.7 gr. of rl-22 for a while now, but have been considering trying something else. CJ

I like how it is made in the good ole USA.

W748, W760 and Supreme 780 are also made in the USA (St. Lucie, Florida). Similarly, US869, H335 and H100V are all manufactured in the USA. Note that all Alliant, Ramshot and Accurate powders are packaged in the USA. Thus, American workers are involved in the production. Likewise, though IMR powders are made in Canada, they are owned by Hodgdon. All of Hodgdon's offerings that are not manufactured in the USA are packaged in the USA.

i wanted to try magpro in my 270 wsm, anybody know if there is a place in Canada that sells it?

It is difficult to get Accurate powders in Canada. Many are not listed on the import manifests. Consequently, you can't get A3100, which would be beneficial. You might try Wholesale Sports. They have had it in the past. Also, ask Corlanes in Dawson Creek if they can order any more. They have had it in stock in recent years. Ask Scott at International Shooting Sports in Surrey is he can get it for you, if you are close. Also, check with Gil at Barton's in Grande Prairie, AB.

Dr. Mike, I'm thinking the ball powders you mention are being made in St. Marks? St. Lucie is a new one on me. I've been wrong before (just ask my wife...) but I grew up in Tallahassee, and we always knew the Olin plant in St. Marks (now St. Marks Powders) was the place for ball powder.

dubyam,

My bad. I wrote in too great a rush. Your point is well taken. (I never could keep all those saints in order.)

I used Mag Pro in my 270 WSM when I had it. I could get great groups with it, but couldn't get them twice. Think it might of been the gun and/or me puching things to hard. Used it with the 140 AB and the 130 ET.

I have also used it in my 280 AI pushing the 160 AB. Got the best groups I have seen out of this gun with it (.2-.3") and better speeds than I get with RL-22 (only by about 20-30 fps). It is on my list of things to revisit as I only had enough to do three three shot loads.

I managed to measure some good groups with MagPro and 130 grain TSXs. The velocity was very impressive. However, I got much better accuracy with RL19, though velocity was a good 200 fps less. I would opt for the accuracy any day. Ultimately, I went with the 130 grain E-Tip, which has become my "go to" load for the 270 WSM.

I have had excellent results with Magpro in my 270WSM with 130gr IB's, 150gr BT's and 150gr PT's. Speed was incredible and accuracy was excellent. RL22 has replaced it right now, as Magpro is harder for me to get when I want it. If you can get it, I really think it is hard to beat, as long as it is accurate for ya. Scotty
