Additional load data for 200 grain Nosler Partition (.308)

DrMike,

I have visited that link many times. Unfortunately, it does not list Norma MRP in conjunction with the 200 grain NP bullets. I believe this is the powder Weatherby uses in its factory loads.

I would suppose that Norma is using a non-canister powder in its Weatherby loads. However, here is the intel with MRP as projected by QL.

Code:
Cartridge : .300 Weath. Mag.
Bullet : .308, 200, Nosler PART SP 35626
Useable Case Capaci: 87.330 grain H2O = 5.670 cm³
Cartridge O.A.L. L6: 3.560 inch = 90.42 mm
Barrel Length : 24.0 inch = 609.6 mm
Powder : Norma MRP

Predicted data by increasing and decreasing the given charge,
incremented in steps of 2.0% of nominal charge.

Hello SJB358,

Believe it or not, the most accurate ammunition I have fired out of my gun is the Weatherby 200 grain NP factory ammo. Since this ammo consistently shoots .5 MOA at 200 yards and the terminal performance of a NP bullet is legendary, I was on a mission to try and duplicate it in my hand loads. This now appears to be a lost cause since Weatherby uses a proprietary version of the 200 grain NP (with cannelure) as well as a "super powder" that provides 3060 fps with only 78.8 grains.

That said, my .300 Weatherby Mag likes IMR 7828 as well. I use it to load 180 grain Accubonds and 190 grain Berger VLDs. With both loads, the accuracy is sub MOA at 100 yards. Unfortunately, my initial ladder test with IMR 7828 and the 200 grain NP yielded very poor results. I suspect that the test may been skewed by runout and will give it another try after I get my new Hornady Concentricity tool.

Can you tell me what powder weight your boy uses with IMR 7828?

If you go to the reloading board and use the search option for 300 Wby loads you should be able to find all the post for 300 Wby loads on this site. I think that's right been a while since I used it.

Here is what I came up with.

viewtopic.php?f=4&t=30360

Hope that helps.

Also, those 200 PTs are the 2nds Mike mentioned that have the crimping groove... They shoot very well.

The Weatherby 200gr Partition must be the standard 200gr Partition, With the extra step of adding the crimp groove. Unless you own a Lee crimp die to match the factory ammo crimp, with the factory over run bullets. Just buy the standard bullets.

I'm getting right at 3050 with the 200 PTs in the 300 with 7828. That big WBY doesn't seem to struggle a bit either. Cases are holding up well.
