Africa 2026

According to the assembly of PH on this property; the swift Aframe is the best bullet. The AccuBond is a close second, the 300 WM is simply the best cartridge, no need for discussion, the absolute worst is the 6.5 creedmore. There will be more from the South African guide shack😁
Our PHs love the 6.5 CM! They regularly take wildebeest, kudu and even an eland with them. The eland was one and done on a double lung shot with the bullet completely passing through the old bull.
But they also use the 270 Win, 30-06 and 308 Win on a regular basis on all the plains game.
Mostly they use PPU and S&B SP ammo, but were using Federal Fusion in the 308; 150 gr in the 270, 180s in the 308 and 30-06.

I’m a lefty
Hey Don, I'm sure that I have a LH rifle that would tickle your fancy on your next African adventure!
As I may need a hunting companion to go back with me next year (Susan is done with Africa and is saying I cannot go without a hunting companion) so that I do not lose my funds for our cancelled return flights, I have to book another trip within a year...
Up for a short trip next April/May? Limpopo?

I really appreciate the offer but I am already booked late May for Buffalo!

When I was in swat there was a tradition, when a guy left the team it was a free for all on his locker, especially if he was promoted or retired. When I retired I walked out of the team room, down the hall, remembered I had left my KBar on the bench. None of the guys were on duty so I didn’t worry about it right away, stopped to talk to a few folks. About 15 minutes later I walk into the room KBar, insulated nomex gloves, goggles, bdu all gone.
I think in Gils case only us left handed folks should get to play. I think thats fair.
Yes, only those in their "right minds" get to play! ;)

Bit of a funny story...
When we arrived at the hospital after the accident, Tersa (the outfitter's wife) asked the emergency staff to get us a wheelbarrow to help Susan and I out of the truck and into the emergency room. She actually said it twice, and after the second time Susan asked her if she meant a gurney instead of a wheelbarrow??? Tersa realized what she had asked for, and we all had a good laugh!

A couple of days later we were recalling this story again during one of Tersa and Deon's (the outfitter) visits and laughing about it, and I said we needed to get a t-shirt made up with a picture of Susan in a wheelbarrow. A couple of hours after they left, Tersa sent us this photo that her and here daughter had made up! Everyone had another good laugh at this!
Hope you enjoy it as much as we did!
(Laughter really is the best medicine...except when you have broken ribs...and even then it is still hard not to laugh. The ribs may bring out a groan or two, but you still end up laughing!)

Being back here with my laptop, sitting in the hospital with plenty of free time each day could be dangerous...
I found a new, unfired, Remington 870 Wingmaster in 28 ga for sale online here in Canada, and ended up buying it! (There was another used one in pretty nice shape for sale too, but I got the unfired one for less than the used one was listed for!) 😎
Hopefully, I may be able to use it once or twice before the end of grouse season this fall, after getting the plate in my shoulder out in the end of August.

Well since you didn’t buy any crack I fail to see a problem.

Here’s wishing you a bountiful grouse season.
