Hi guys,

Have long respected good air rifles, but always chose to put my money into centerfire.

But I want a decent air rifle to take out bunnies clean with a headshot at say 35 yds. Next door neighbor is LE and I dont want to attract unwanted attention by having a bunny doing the hurky turkey and sqeuwling in my neighbors yard...

Prefer a decent .22 cal unit that is accurate & reasonably priced.

Any suggestions welcome..

I have shot an unbelievable amount of raccoons and possums with my 22
rim fire using CB Longs. They sound just like an air rifle and you can actually hear the bullet hit them.

+1 with POP,
I think the R9 came along shortly after I purchased my R1.
My parents would let me shoot the ground squirels at my Grandmothers with a rimfire due to a couple houses near by..... I did some research, mowed some yards and wala, the Beeman R1. I don't remember exactly how old I was when I bought it..10, maybe 12.
Beeman R1 .177 with model 66 2X7 Beeman Scope. Should have seen my mothers eyes when it showed up.... ...............

POP.... I've shot many a jack-rabbit with it..... their fun !!!

Hi, back in 1970's I bought a Feinwerkbuw in .177, it looks like a R-1. At the time it was one of the fastest at 1000 fps. I used to shoot bee's off of the flowers in the backyard. Many a mongoose bit the dust at home. I have 10/22 with a bull barrel and shoot CB Longs. They both sound about the same. I would rather shoot the 10/22. IMO the .22 is a better avenue, but its up to you.

Guys thanks for the ideas, I am gonna run to the "store" and get a box of CB's and have fun.... But still educate myself with air rifles...

I have a benjamin pump in 20 cal that is deadly on crows but I think CB longs arer quieter than my pellet gun.
The CB's won't cycle a semi auto and are a pinch quieter out of a bolt or lever action. The round will partially open the bolt on my 10-22 and that is where the extra noise comes from. They are a lot of fun in my Henry golden boy lever.

K guys,

What flavor of CB's do you all use? I have a Gander Mt, Sportsman Warehouse and Scheels to go looking. But will not be able to till tomorrow. CCI, Rem, Fed, ????

Okie Doke,

Just by chance, while perusing thru the racks at the local Sportsman Warehouse, they happen to be clearancing the RWS Diana 34 Wood stocked-scoped combo units for 179$ Man, cant beat that with a big stick...

So my latest toy is a sweet air rifle. Cant wait to play with it. And to think I went there looking for CB longs......
