This was the rifle I cut my baby teeth on. And thanks to Kurt it now has an old M7b Leupold 4x with the post and horizontal crosshair reticle. It shot real well my friend and as the pictures reflect, it still looks just as pretty as ever.

Deer Season was a blast though I didnt get a chance to use this old girl. I used my 30-06 and got a 2x3 (5-point Eastern Count) Whitetail Buck. And that backstrap is still making my mouth water today!

Cant wait til November to try out my new 300 WSM.

Classic Savage.

I'd like to see Savage bring them back, but I suspect they'd be real expensive to match the craftsmanship of the old 99's.

I'm with Guy! They are some great lever rifles and am still on the hunt for a good one in 300 Savage. My grandfather hunted with one till he passed and took countless deer, a few elk and moose and a fair pile of black bear. 180gr Silvertips worked for everything. I hope to find a nice one someday. Glad you are still using yours and hunting with it. Scotty

Beautiful old rifle that anyone would be proud to carry. Man, that makes me want to go searching as I don't have one in my safe any longer.

Dad has an old 99, in .22 High Power - an interesting cartridge that's hard to find anymore. Brass rotary magazine and a flip up tang sight too. It's also got a .410 shotgun barrel that can be screwed on in place of the rifle barrel. Just a single shot with the shotgun though.

I'd like to have one in .300 Savage most of all, but would settle for a nice .308 Win or .358 Win someday.

Beautiful rifle. The Savage 99 is a classic.
Someday I will run across one in 300 Savage.

That is a really classic, pretty old rifle. Very nice! Those are the fun ones to hunt with! CL

My b-law picked one up in a trade and has only shot it at a coyote. I've already mentioned that when he is ready to part with it CALL ME!
It's in a 300 Savage also. I remember as a kid, my grandfather having one of those on the farm years and years ago.

I just put it on as is Kurt, though I am topped out on the vertical adjustments which I am not sure are responding properly to the adjustments I give it...just had to get it on there and shoot. I will probably bring it back over to Bend after elk season and then send the scope back in to Leupold. Got a black bear tag, I would love to fill it with this old gun. Last thing I shot with it was a doe back in '06. Its past due time. Glad you all approve, its truly a great piece of family history that I love to shoot and carry. She would see a lot more action if it wasn't for my 30-06 and 300 WSM. I have truly been blessed with my current gun collection!
