With 11 days left in primitive hunting season in this part of South Mississippi, I have a few more chances to hunt. Now that would not mean much to me considering my old school muzzle loader pistol that I have been using and the fact that I am having trouble seeing that thin front sight, especially in the low light of the evening and have to end my hunts some 35-40 minutes before I would like to and I can forget early morning hours till almost sunrise.
So, I have acquired (peresonal story), a Knight Disc Elite .50 cal muzzle loader, with a Burris 3-9x40 FullField scope, Hornady SST Flex saboted bullets, and some Triple seven magnum pellets and 100 209 primers. It is like new and was only fired at the range and then put up and not hunted with.
I can prime the disc with my fingers and load it with my fingers. I have been practicing. I cleaned it again, but it didn't really need it (you know when you get a gun you just have to clean it, even if it does not need it) I was going to bore sight it, but it didn't need that either, it was on at 50 yds. Will make adjustments tomorrow morning at the range after firing at my targets. I love the feel of the thumbhole, it really fits my hand when I shoulder the rifle. After I get it sighted in at the range I will hunt tomorrow afternoon and a few days next week. With 2 Triple 7 Magnums pellets I will get around 2200fps with a 250gr Hornady SST Flex saboted bullet.
Here are a few pictures of this rifle.
