Hi everyone....Posting this for Collin...............................

I hate to ask again, but can you post this for me.

I shot a 250-275 pound wild hog yesterday with the .300 Win Mag with handloaded 180gr E-Tips. The fist shot was about 85 yards, he was facing away. I hit him in the spine (just behind mid-ship) and he dropped. A few seconds later, he's up, dragging his back end I shot, missed, shot again and he was down at about 100 yards.

While skinning him out, I found the first bullet had smashed the spine (but not penatrated it) and traveled under the skin to the shoulder. The second shot hit right next to the first (but missed the spine) and I found it in the hogs throat.

LOL! Thanks again POP.

The story goes....

A buddy of mine wanted to take some of his clients on a hog hunt and said he'd pay my way if I did the leg work and entertained his clients while we were out. I chose Carrissa Exotics (exotic-hunts.net) out of Paso Robles, California. This outfitt is owned by the Twissleman family. The first night we didn't get to hunt and sat around getting to know each other. I'd been with this outfit twice before and they do a great job.

I can trust that the guy that was anoying in the bunch will not be on this forum (he already knows everything). He bragged about taking an elk two weaks ago at 475 yards in the neck "so I didn't ruin the meat". Then explained about the 1,600 yard elk rifle he was building. He proceeded to tell the guides they need not worry about him "I'm very comfortable at 500 yards". Needless to say, this guy probably shot $50.00 worth of bullets at 3 hogs.

Early on the last moring on the hunt, we spotted a group of 21 head working through some barley. After an hour or so, we'd cut over a small ridge to cut them off. We popped over the ridge and they were standing in a tight group at 80 yards. They turned to run and I took mine down, another buddy had hit his in the rear leg and 'Mr. 1,600 yard elk rifle' shot, probably 9 times and didn't hit a thing. My hog had a broke back and started crawling away and I put a finisher in him. The guides let out a catch dog on the one with the broke leg.

The dog bayed the hog in an open field (a big 225 pound boar). He charged the truck 4 times and actually hooked the back tire the last time. It shook the whole truck and flipped the hog on his back. He finished him off and we got some pictures.

'Mr. 1,600 yard elk rifle' and his guide cut off the rest of the herd and he shot a 125 pound boar through the hams at 50 yards, them bragged about a head shot "so I don't waste any meat". I asked him what the hole in the hind end was and he said, "I shot him in the hind end to slow him down so I could get a head shot." What an idiot!!!

He was shooting Barnes bullets and claims them to be the greatest invention in the world. When I pulled the expanded Nosler E-Tips from my hog he said, "See, those Noslers just don't expand right." Other than 'Mr. 1,600 yard elk rifle', it was a great trip and the Noslers did a great job.

Colin, those are two pretty bullets. 8)
Nice Pig, he sure looks big!
And let me guess, the 1600 yd elk rifle was a .243 :p

LOL!!! His actual words..."I'm building a 1,600 yard elk rifle in .338 Lapua. You probably don't know what that is but it's a lot faster than the .338 Ultra Mag."

That's when I decided I was done talking to him....

Congrats! Great looking hog & darned fine looking bullets!

Nosler oughta use 'em in an ad or something...

For sure, I'll get some much better photos of the bullets and Nosler is welcome to them. All I ask is for bullets for life!!!!! LOL!!!

Thanks, he's a big boy. Just for perspective...I'm 5'7" and 160 pounds. My knee is touching him, I'm not far behind him like some shots you see.

Well, and here all this time, I thought the 338-378WBY was "King of the 338" .

A friend of mine would call him a, "Sexual Intellectual"! If you'd like the non-PC version, PM me.

Is that the same thing as a "Richard noggin"?

Can you list your exact accuracy at 100 yds with your rifle Collin...

Colin,
I've hunted that area for over 27 years. That is a great hog. A once in a lifetime boar for most dedicated hunters. I've only seen three taken that size. They were on private ranches but they aren't ordinary and public land hunters never get a shot at a big boar like that. Congrats and thank you for sharing the pictures!!
Good Hunting
Elkhunt

   And now back to the pork chops. You guys kill me.

I've got the 180gr E-tips grouping at a little over an inch and 100 yards. I still need to tweak them a bit. Velocity is around 3,060+-fps.

He is a big pig for sure, the guides were pretty impressed with him. Not the biggest boar or longest tusked boar they had taken but within the top 2% that they'd seen.

Just finished skinning him out for a mount and boiled the skull of my buddies hog for a european mount I'm doing for him.

That guy is the biggest "Brilliant Posterior" I'd met in a while.

Talk about consistant!!! I weighed both E-Tips and they were 178.3gr and 178.4gr.

What an outstanding bullet....
