Anyone know which Imr powder will suit the 30-06? IMR 4064? or IMR 4350?

Either one will do fine. Most of mine do best with IMR 4350,got one that does great with IMR 4064 with either bullet weight.Only way to see which is best in your rifle is try both.

All I shoot in my 30/06's is IMR-4350. Over the years I have tried every powder suitable for the 06 and now only use the one.Rick.

I shoot IMR 4350 as well w/ my 168 match bullets. It has worked very well for me, I tried H380, Imr 4064 as well, but the best results came from 4350.

I like IMR-4064 with a 150 gr bullet. My 03 Springfield shoots 150 gr Ballistic Tips in 5/8 inch regularly with 52.0 gr of that power, right at 2900 FPS. That shows as a book max in several manuals these days. I started shooting it 30 years ago, as it was my Dad's favorite load. I tried IMR-4350, but the accuracy was not as good and the velocity only a little bit better. THe IMR-4064 load has shot very well in every .30-06 I've tried it in - about a dozen.

Why do you guys prefer IMR4350 to H4350? I use Hodgon 4350 just because they claim it's temperature-stabilized. Any real difference between the two?

I'm gonna go off the beat'n path a bit, but give H414 a try. Thats been my "go to" powder in an "ought", especially with 165s, for years. All three of mine, my son's and two other hunting buddies all use it.

It generally gives excellent accuracy and velocities.

going through my old cronograph sheets h414 and 150gr ballistic tips, cci magnum primers gave the most consistant velocity readings of any load in the 30-06 one string had a s/d of 6fps and groups of 5/8" velocity over 2900fps

So far I can't get even one of the Hodgdon Extreme powders to best a IMR or Alliant powder. However RL 15 is supposed to be temperature insensitive and I have some good loads with it.

In the 30-06 IMR 4350 has always been superb however if the very highest velocity was wanted I suppose some RL powder might do that.
