Any on-game experience with 125 grain Accubond from 30-06?

I thinking about loading some of these as a medium-range load for deer. According to Nosler #7 they get going pretty quick with Varget.

How do these bullets perform on deer and elk? Hunting stories welcomed.

The 180 AccuBond from my 30-06 proved just the ticket for Montana Elk and Mule Deer last fall.. I was advised by my outfitter that their preference is for 180 grain bullets and I now concur based on personal experience. Look at the sectional density of the 125 (.188) vs 180 (.271) grain bullets, from the Nosler #6 Reloading Guide . More weight means better penetration which I want for elk and mule deer. Good Luck.

Do you have on-game experience using the 125 NAB from a .30-06?

My experience is limited to the 180's. When I could not get the 180's I did buy some 165 gr. AccuBond that I have not loaded yet. Sorry that I can not be more help. At some point I may pick up some 125 gr AccuBond to try on woodchucks, but would stick to the 165 gr for deer if I could not get the 180's.

Thanks, I'm looking for information on 125 grain NAB, not what your experience has been with 180 grain bullets.

I've seen the 125 Ballistic Tips used enough times to say they do work just fine on deer...just don't expect them not to be a little explosive...they are messy.

Haven't seen the AB's used much yet...but I imagine they'll hold together better than the BT's.

I think Nosler intended these 125 grain bullets as deer bullets...because bonded bullets and varmints just isn't normal, lol.

The 125 Ballistic Tip worked just peachy on my friend Dani's whitetail buck last fall.

I can only imagine that the AccuBond version of that bullet would do even better. Haven't tried them though. According to Nosler, 3400 fps with the 125 is possible from the .30-06, I think the AccuBond version of the bullet would be important at those speeds.

The Ballistic Tip version of it really flattened out from Dani's .308 Win. Killed that buck just fine, but the bullet didn't exit, I think due to expanding so much. There wasn't a lot of bullet shank left.

55.5 grains Varget shot about half an inch, chrono'ed 3094 ft/sec. Not a bad speed goat load.

Can not help on the 125gr AB but the 125gr BT kills deer very well out of the 300 savage. 2950fps is easy to get and 3075fps is possible out of a 24". They put a fist sized hole completely through every deer I killed with them. Blacktail doe and a couple Idaho Muledeer Bucks.
