A couple years ago I seen a Henry Big Boy in 45 Long Colt on the rack in a shop in Edmonton. It caught my eye, but really didn't fit into the way I hunt or like to shoot so I couldn't justify the cost of it. Recently, I was in the market for something interesting, different from the other rifles in the case. First I looked at a wildcat semi custom rifle, finally I settled on the Henry. What a lot of fun to shoot!!! I have 250 240grn JHP nosler bullets coming and some H110 powder. I'm going to need to start loading soon because I have been going thro alot of ammo with this thing. It seems pretty straight forward to load. I bought a set of Lee Carbide dies, didn't figure I needed RCBS for a straight wall case because there is almost no chance of a stuck case & I didn't expect great accuracy out of a lever rifle with iron sights, but it actually shoots well. Any tips???

The powders suggested above (with Alliant 2400) are dead on. Keep overall length at 1.610 and you will be fine.

I know in the M92 you have to watch bullet style ie rnfp feed the bestas do the standard 240grn hp's. If used for hunting I'd suggest a 250 NP 240 XTP 270 Gold dot or a hard cast bullet, the standard off the shelf revolver brand X bullet will not hold up and WILL come apart and WILL have poor penetration, believe me I know from experience.

H110 is my go to powder for the 44 Mag.

I shoot the Nosler 240 gr JHP with 23.0 grs H110 and the
250 gr PT with 21.0 grs with H110. Make sure yo use a good
roll crimp on your loads.

Let us know how your Henry Big Boy shoots.

You might want to try the 265 hornady flat point for penetration on elk or bear even through bone but for deer I would use the 240 XTP or 250 Partition with either W296 or H110.
