Hunting is part and parcel of Canada's heritage. However, as the nation becomes more urbanized, hunting is under assault. Here is a news release that is disturbing.

http://www.icontact-archive.com/JPAU0XWL9ZSHsaFwEtQJJJiO31pehIbY?w=2

This is the BC Wildlife Federation's report.

Canada in the Rough™ just announced that Global Television/ Shaw Media will be cancelling all hunting shows on Global and Shaw affiliate networks. Canada in the Rough™, Canada's most-watched hunting show, will be pulled off Global Television after December 30, 2012.

Their announcements reads, "Canada in the Rough™ has been airing for 8 years on Global Television and we've had a tremendous experience doing it. We want to thank all of you for your support throughout the years and as much as we hate to say goodbye, we have no choice."

"Our hunting heritage is under constant attack by those who have forgotten that hunting is at the root of human existence and still the most valuable and effective tool in wildlife management."

If you wish to share your thoughts with Global regarding this decision, please email viewercontact@globaltv.com as well as glynnis.prystae@sjrb.ca and greg.mclelland@shawmedia.ca or call 1-877-307-1999.

The actor....Kurt Russell use to hold a charity hog hunt in Hawaii until he caught so much greif from PETA that he stopped doing the hunt....

The meat was given to charities to feed the poor and the money made went to local charities.... all that lost cause of stupid people cared more about animals then their fellow human beings....

Mike,

Its pretty sad that we keep caving in to the pressures of the liberals.

Canada has one-tenth the population of the US. The overwhelming majority of the population lives within 300 miles of the border, primarily in the major cities. The populace has lost any connection to the land. The liberal mindset does not permit a respite.

Dr. Mike, didn't know that so many "Mexifornians" had moved that far north! I feel for you. We all ready have way too many of them here in WA state.

Yeah it's happening all over. I grew up hunting and for most of my life, have owned firearms. I love to hunt and shoot but I personally believe the days are near when this will all be taken away. :(

There is a method to all this anti-hunting madness. If we can no longer hunt, they we have, according to the government, no need to own any firearms. BIg brother will just order us to turm them all in of go to prison. :x IIRC, the Second Amendment was not about duck hunting or hunting deer, moose elk, what ever your fancy was. It was to keep a potentially tyrannical government in line and off our backs. I'll bet that if you scratched an ecofreak, you'd also find an anti-gun person as well, the two seem to go hand in hand.
The following is a piece I wrote on anther site back when Zumbo put both feet in his mouth when he spouted off on AR's and the like. :x Despite the age restrictions mention, I'm like Jack Benny. I'm 39 years old.

OK, lets discuss the 2nd Amendment. Good idea. It is my carefully considered opinion that the KEY WORD is MILITIA.

1. The Militia Act of 1792. One year after the Second Amendment was added to the Constitution, Congress passed a law defining the militia. The Militia Act of 1792 declared that all free male citizens between the ages of 18 and 44 were to be members of the militia. Furthermore, every citizen was to be armed. The act stated:
"Every citizen...[shall] provide himself with a good musket, a sufficient bayonet and belt, two spare flints...."

The Militia Act of 1792 made no provision for any type of select militia such as the National Guard.

U.S. Senate Subcommittee Report (1982) "In the Militia Act of 1792, the second Congress defined 'militia of the United States' to include almost every free adult male in the United States. These persons were obligated BY LAW (emphasis mine) to possess a [military style] firearm and a minimum supply of ammunition and military equipmemnt....There can be little doubt from this that when the Congress and the people spoke of the a 'militia,' they had reference to the traditional concept of the entire populace capable of bearing arms, and not to any formal group such as what is today called the national Guard."

Current Federal Law: 10 U.S.C. Sec. 311. "The militia of the Untied States consists of all able-bodied males at least 17 years of age and...under 45 years of age who are, or who have made a declaration of intention to become, citizens of the United States.....

Supreme Court: U.S. v. Miller 1939 In this case, the Court stated that, "The Militia comprised of all males physically capable of acting in concert for the common defense...[and that] when called for service, these men were expected to appear bearing arms supplied by themselves AND OF THE KIND IN COMMON USE AT THE TIME. (emphasis mine)
(BTW, Miller lost in court because he did not show up. It was never taken into account that his no show was because he had passed away.)

More on Title 10 of the U.S. Code

UNITED STATES CODE
TITLE 10 - ARMED FORCES
Subtitle A - General Military Law
PART I - ORGANIZATION AND GENERAL MILITARY POWERS
CHAPTER 13 - THE MILITIA

Sec. 311. Militia: composition and classes

(a)The militia of the United States consists of all able-bodied males at least 17 years of age and, except as provided in section 313 of title 302, under 45 years of age who are, or who have made a declaration of intention to become, citizens of the United States and of female citizens of the United States who are members of the National Guard.

(b) The classes of the militia are -

(1) the organized militia which consists of the National Guard and the Naval Militia;
and

(2) The unorganized militia, which consists of the members of the militia who are not members of the National Guard or of the Naval Militia.

Now it took me all of about ten minutes to find all that information. Just go to the Gun Owners of America's website and look for their firearms fact sheet. There's 24 pages of good information there.

I plan on making copies of the above and sending each of my representatives their own personal copy. Feel free to do the same. Maybe, if they get flooded with as many letters with the above as Zumbo's sponsers did on his major foot in mouth problem, the idiots just might get a message. Leave our guns alone.

This is starting to become ridiculous :( these people who live in Toronto and Montreal and have very little knowledge of what hunting represents think they have all the power. If we could get half of the kids in these large urban centers to come out and enjoy the sport it would likely change the minds of many people & likely cut the crime rate in half because they would learn respect :)

Blessings,
Dan

Dan,

Send your Emails to Global and to Shaw. Mine went off yesterday.

Dan,

Don't feel alone. Much of the east coast of the US is the same way. That's why we get the pleasure of having wolves in our state. If it was actually up to the states they introduced them into there is no way in hell we would have them.

It makes me sick as the working class guy paying 60% of the taxes nation wide taken roles as oil field workers carpenters electricians welders mechanics, for a most part we live and contribute to hunting and conservation. The radio , tv ,artsy , lawyers type of guys go to media or politics and wind up making the desicion for the rest of us is write or wrong . All of the hubbub latley about professional athletes that hunt further the point. It makes me sick litterly.

The decision in the "US versus Miller-1939 says it at. The rest is innuendo and noise. The Liberal Elite panderers have occupied and effectively taken over Washington State. If you do not agree with them, you have no right to express an opinion in public.

OK....I was going through some old notes when I found this.....

When I captured it....it was supposed to be still an active law on the books....

Alberta, Canada .. If you are released from prison, it is required that you are given a handgun with bullets and a horse, so you can ride out of town.

Course...there is this law also....:British Columbia, Canada .. It is illegal to kill a sasquatch

Sorry if I offend..... but sometimes in bad situations...ya just have to laugh.

Hey, Mortis, if ever I see Sasquatch, I intend to put him down and claim self-defence. FWIW, I've only had one encounter with "Sasquatch," and I was armed with three pound test line.

DrMike, you didn't tie him up and wrap him in 3 lb monofilament and run to find a Mountie? (LOL, just kidding)

Charlie,

Mounties and preachers--they're never around when you need them.

The poor Mounties, most of them have 1000 square miles where they are the only law and order. Preachers are not as big a problem, at least not down here, I can always find a preacher locally with a sympathic ear. It is the nitpicking crocodile tear down-their-cheek, liberals from a parallel universe, running down Christianity, who are most of the problem around here locally.

There is not anough 3 pound test mono in the universe to tie all of these Liberals up, there are too many of them!
