I just got back from Namibia. I am between houses so my loading bench is in storage. I had to take factory ammo. I chose the Federal Vital Shock with the Accubonds: 260 gr. in my 375 H&H and 140 gr. in my 7mm-08. I took six animals: Greater Kudu, Gemsbok, Zebra with the 375, Impala, Springbok, and Blesbok with the 7mm-08. All dropped in their tracks except the Zebra, which I had to shoot on the run. He required a follow-up shot since the first shot was a bit far back.

Bob,

Congratulations on your hunt. Sounds like the AB's worked perfectly for you. Can you share any details on the hunts?

I've always been curious as to what you Africa hunters do with the meat? Do you bring it back to the US? How hard is it to get the trophies/mounts back into the US?

We ate fresh game every day while we were there. The gemsbok is great!! You are not allowed to bring any meat back into the US. Some of the meat is sold. All of the ranch hands and their families are provided with meat. Most of it was donated to an AIDS home with 600 children in it........all under age 7. Half of them have full blown aids and the rest are HIV Positive.

Most folks have the capes and horns dipped, packed, crated, and shipped back to the US for the taxidermy. It is a very easy process.

Bob,

Congratulations again and thank you for posting your notes.
Africa is in my sights once I get my girls through school.
