I've been unable to shoot a rifle since March, doctor's orders, following neck surgery. Today was the final look at how things are healing, after a lot of working out, and I'm cleared for rifle shooting! Along with anything else I feel like doing... Cool.

This fall I've got hunts for bear, mule deer and elk planned. Backup plan was the .44 mag revolver with a red-dot sight on it... But I sure am glad I've got the okay to use rifles now.

Not planning on anything wild & crazy.

When I hit the range in a few days, I'll start with the .22 Marlin, then the .223 AR-15, then the .25-06 Rem 700. I may bring the .30-06 along as well. I'm sure I can handle the .25-06, and the .30-06 is just more of a good thing.

Think the .375 may just gather dust this year, though I really do enjoy using it on bear.

Yee Haw! I'm back! (y)

Great news Guy glad you are cleared to shoot again. That 30-06 of yours will perform great on elk and bear :)

Good show, Guy. That is good news, indeed. It is a miserable thing when we are restricted from doing what we enjoy. Looking forward to seeing what your '06 produces.

Great news Guy!
I look forward to reading about your hunts this year, and every year, mate.

Glad to hear that you are cleared to enjoy shooting the rifles again Guy. I believe that burning rifle powder is therapeutic. Looking forward to your future stories. Best of Luck Rol

Thanks all. Much as I enjoy shooting my handguns... I have really been missing the rifles!

Worst/best was a couple of sessions of rifle instruction I conducted... Without being able to fire one! Argh!

Ouch!
Not being able to lovingly caress a rifle and send a bullet to the target while instructing has to be one of the hardest things to do.

Guy- Glad to hear you are recovering well. Hope things work out well for you. Just take your 375 out once a month or so. That thing is to pretty to be collecting dust!

We just finished wheat harvest last week so I have finally had time to do a little shooting the last few mornings as well. It's a great feeling getting back onto the range.

Glad your back to the long guns Guy. I'm thinking you'll have a smile when that 25-06 does as directed.

Guy, glad to hear the recovery is progressing nicely. Check the market as there are new recoil pads out that are very shooter friendly.

Congratulations Guy, I'm sure the ol' .25-06 with 110 AB or 115 Grain PT could handle all three species quite well. Good luck with your recovery.

Glad to hear you're back in the saddle !

Go smack some steel with the Green Machine, you'll feel better in a very few rounds !

Good morning Guy :). I apologize for not seeing this post sooner  I am sure glad that everything is coming together. Being patient is a difficult thing when you are so used to being such a active person (y).
Sure glad you are back & doing what you love to do!!

Blessings,
Dan

Thanks Dan. I never really slowed down too much. Kept walking like crazy, had to curtail the bike riding and weight lifting for a while, and rifle shooting is the last of my activities to come back.

I was surprised that I was allowed to keep shooting the handguns, but it makes sense, given the nature of my neck injury/surgery.

Am pretty sure I'll be doing fine with the rifles soon enough. Hope so, bear hunt in a month!

Guy

Guy I'm happy to hear your cleared to get back after it with the rifles. Not much worse than not being able to do what a person enjoys.
