Backpacker ATV Cart

Man, that is cool. An elk hunters dream cart!

That is cool, I have a little trailer that I tow behind mine. I wonder how they killed that elk on such flat ground, most of the ones I have killed have legs on one side longer than the other and can't walk on flat ground !

Ol' Tramp, loaded up with elk head & antlers. He did a fine job of getting those things 9 miles back to the trailhead, in one piece.

Two other horses carried the quarters and the rest of the meat. Dang...

My buddy Keith and I are usually our own packhorses when it comes to mule deer:

Washington doesn't allow ATV's on many public lands. I'm okay with that, but they have their place and are useful. I can see where a trailer like that could be real handy.

Guy,

Four legs are hard to beat. Two will work when four can't be found, but as we age we appreciate the extra two Ol' Tramp brings to the party.

Great pictures Guy. I like the work mules put in for packing meat! Excellent animals, but I can't stand being constrained by them while hunting and man, they are loud when they are tied up in a hunting area. I know, it isn't that bad, but I would rather hunt on foot and then use the mules to pack meat, if I am lucky enough to have some around. Scotty

That's what we did. The horses and mules moved the two of us and camp into the wilderness. We set up camp, then hunted afoot. When the bull was down, my pard went back to camp for the horses, while I carried chunks of elk down to where the horses could easily get to them. It was pretty cool.

I need to go get another elk. Been a while.

I know the feeling Guy! Really looking forward to getting out and after them this year. I need to take them as I can get them... Scotty
