Barnes 168 TTSX

I know they advertise it as .470 but has anyone tried it in real life for drop at longer ranges? Does it turn out to be close to .470?

I can't speak for the BC of the TTSX but I can definately speak to the performance of the 168gr TSX. I have a load with my 300 RUM that I have been shooting for a couple of years now. CLocking right at 3270fps. So far it has taken a moose and 3 black bears. Performance has been amazing, including over 5 foot of penentration on my moose. One round went from the rear left leg out the front of the chest. All three bears where one shot drops. two over bait at less than 30 yards and one spot and stalk at just over 300 yards. bullet performance has been incredable all across the velosity spread.

From all reports the TTSX is supposed to be just as good or better than the tsx. I wouldn't think twice about trying it and plan too this fall.

i tested mine to 600 yards which is not much for BC testing as i understand. velocity was 3140 at the muzzle. and the actual drop was actually less than expected by the ballistic calculator.
so i guess they were at the least .470 BC

The difference will be noticed in drop past 600yds if the BC is not .470, I bet they got that one pretty close if not right on. WOW!!! I actually said something nice about a Barnes bullet. By the way, Jerry (300wm) is shooting 210gr TTSX's at 600yds with his custom Vanguard in 338Win Mag and it is very impressive.

POP I would suggest also looking at the 168 grain Etip. Its BC is advertised at .503 and they were less expensive that the barnes bullets also.

I like this long bullet with less bearing surface due to the long nose section and boat tail.
