While out and about today, I happened to see a few early spring rock chucks! Those beady eyed grass munchers were sending out scouts in the warm afternoon sunshine... Two are alive only because I stayed my trigger finger. Was actually watching them through the scope of my .300 WSM...

We aren't overpopulated with the doggone things, so I get pretty picky about how many, when and where I zap 'em. And who zaps 'em. I saved these two for my son. I get more of a kick out of him zapping the varmints anyway.

Supposed to rain tomorrow, they don't usually come out in bad weather. Maybe we'll have a go at them on Sunday.

Beady eyed, grass munching, over grown dirt squirrels...

Great way to keep the trigger finger in tune.

We have quite a colony of ground squirrels near a small barn on our property. When I first came here there were about 50. Now there are many less but I am careful to not get to many during any one year. I use my Browning Buckmark, good practice and a challenge.
