Has anyone out there tried this out in a Remington 700 338 rum? If so any data would be helpful.

Thanks

Jon

Jon,

I have only used the 300 gr AB in my M700 LSS 338 RUM.
My best results have been with 91.5 grs Retumbo. Sub MOA out to 800 yds.

Thanks, I called Berger and they don’t have any data either. They said to use data for the Sierra match king. I have not bought any yet. The Bergers are $87 for 100 less than Partitions but still a lot to try some. I have never been able to get my rum to shoot better than moa at 100 yards and now it is slipping out again. It just came back from the gun smith again and will be getting a new barrel in the spring if things don’t change.

Just the 230 in my 30-378 buddy

They work great on game.

from another site..........

There is the OTM, target, classic hunter and elite hunter.

The 230 gr OTM and 230 gr target have been used on big game with excellent results.

The 215 VLD hunting and 230 gr target hybrid have almost identical jackets:

I took advantage of the higher BC of the 230 target hybrid and will be using them on a elk hunt in Dec. Using a 300 RUM. Friend will also use them with his 300 WSM. I know they will work close or far.

Hope pictures are not too graphic.

This is a 230 Hybrid from a 300 RUM. Response is from another forum

Pop, this is from a friend of mine that I 100% trust. Just wanted to state it is not from me. Also this is the 230 Target Hybrid, not the OTM but I believe the jackets are the same thickness.

"30 cal. 230 grain berger hybrid target before and after. 6x6 elk shot at 648 yards. The bullet hit the bottom of the spine and was found just under the hide in the offside hind quarter. The elk was facing down hill and quartered at me. It dropped in its tracks. so did the cow i shot at 90 yards and the deer at 110 the year before. They aren't recommended for hunting by berger but they work well for me!"

Looks like a thicker jacket to me. Not ever knocking Berger for the far shots, but the close up ones scare me. I know they are accurate, but they should be, made for matches and all. Just wondering how much a guy gives up over a 200 AB? Not arguing, cause I know they make the 1000 yard shots better, but the close ones are the ones I sweat.

Scott The hybrids are tougher but the great thing is they are not nearly as picky as their VLD brethren for accuracy.

This group from my sako is right around .35"

Kinda crazy. The LR market would explode should Nosler build BT's with high BC's. With Solid Bases and medium kinda weight retention along with a little higher BC, they would rule the roost, near and far. Just my opinion, but the have the foundation already.

Yeah, I know Nosler won't let us down. They do a damned awesome job right now. They always have something cool up their sleeves.

I am 100% happy with most all of Nosler's offerings, although, the extra BC with higher BC would be sweet..

It will be!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would think a 416 BT in the 350 range would be pretty cool. That big, thick base would get alot of work done I think..

I am with you buddy. I imagine a hammer like that would be pretty cool..

Although, the 250 PT is still pretty fun to goof with in the 338...
