Yeah, I wouldn't push them over 3000 fps either. My loads are just a shade over 2900 fps and see no reason to seek elsewhere.

How do you like the 150gr NBT on deer.I've only shot one with it.My load was 46.5grs of Varget @ 2900fps.Deer was hit behind the shoulder at 100yds,went 30yds and went down.Deer just didn't bleed.Had it not gone down in my sight,it might have been difficult to find.I'm still searching for a good DRT bullet for my 308.I killed one with a 165gr Hornady Interbond loaded with 45.5grs of Varget @ 2700fps.Deer hit good behind the shoulder and ran about 75 yards and went down.No blood.Shot three more with the 150gr Hornady Interbond,all behind the shoulder.First deer ran 100 yards.No blood for about 50 yards,then 1/2" splatters for the last 50 yards before it was found.Second deer went right down,bullet went right below the spine.Third deer went right down,got up and ran 75 yards before it was down for good.Left 1/2" blood splatters here and there.I've only killed a small number of deer with the 308.Wound channels were very good on all of them.All bullets left nice exit holes around 1 1/2",but I feel like the results so far have been less than impressive.I think I may try the 165 or 168gr Nosler Ballistic Tips.In my 30-06's,I'm running it 2900-3000fps,depending on what rifle.Those two bullets are awesome.I've got eight DRT kills in a row.The amount of blood on the ground where the deer went down and beyond the exit path of the bullet has been very impressive.It will leave a trail of blood and tissue as far as 10-15yards past the deer on the exit side.I don't know if I'll get the same results running 200-300fps slower in the 308,but they sure work in the 30-06.lar383":w1taw6l7 said:
