Big 'Ol Sow

Made our annual trek SE of Dallas to wack some oinkers. I dropped a 210 lb sow the last evening out after missing 2 earlier that weekend (operator error).

Hit her on the left side of the forehead with a head on shot with my 280 pushing a 139 Interlock @ 3020 fps. The skinner found the the jacket at the neck/shoulder junction. I found the core on the backside of shoulder about another 10"-12" back. I don't think I've ever seen so much fat on a wild hog. It was at least 2" thick everywhere. That was some tasty pork.

In all, we brought home 4 hogs & 2 bobcats. Me and my buddy had 4 coyotes about 120 yds out but couldn't get them called in. Unfortunately they were standing on ground owned by the max security prison that was 4 miles up the road.

Saw a lot of these guys too...

Congrats on the sow. Got to watch them gators at this time of year, they get very nasty during breeding season.

I had no intentions of getting that close to one them things. The one in pic was sitting right below the road. It was a snap & skate situation.

Unfortunately I didn't get around to making any sausage out of her. I gave the hams to the guy that didn't get one and 1 loin went to my brother. My family of 5 ate the rest of her up that week.

Well, hopefully next time you will get to try to make sausage as I was fortunate enough to have some wild boar sausage given to me and it was maybe the best sausage I have ever eaten :mrgreen:!!
That pot looks like pulled pork and I bet it really hit the spot. Again thank you for sharing and the photographs.

I had gator bites in a restaurant in Florida once and they are very tasty. If they were in season I would have been tempted to pop him in the head. :mrgreen:
