Never mounted a bipod for big game hunting. I've used Harris and shooting sticks for varmints. Which ones do you all recommend. Looking at Atlas but I think they may be too heavy. This will be for my new 280AI.

I'm also a Steady Stix user, though I prefer the magnum style with the larger tube diameter as they are far more sturdy. I have them in kneeling and standing heights and have taken several deer from them, out beyond 200yds. Just be sure you get the .520" diameter tubesand you'll be all set.

I have two from Harris, one that swivels and one that does not. They are excellent products.

Over the years, I have settled on Harris. I have 2 shortys and two longer. My favorite is one of the shortys that retracts the leg with a button. The other one extends the leg with a button, and makes a noise when the leg is extended  . The later models also swivel, which is desirable.

For straight prone shooting I use the atlas bipod, it is better suited with adjustments and tension settings than the harris. For a hunting situation where terrain dictates the shooting position i carry a lightweight set of aluminum shooting sticks in my pack along with the.atlas on the rifle, that way all bases are covered. Rifle does shoot a bit high from the sticks due to more free recoil and less anchored mass behind it. "Just what I have noticed when shooting off the sticks".

Scott - I use these. Not attached to the rifle, but I keep them easily accessible on my pack.

Those are the sticks I use as well, and the do make you a lot steadier while shooting. I took this mule deer buck at 560 yards off of those sticks.

If I'm hunting and shooting prone I usually use my day pack as the rest.

For open country I use a Harris bipod but when there is a tree available I grab a hand full and lean into it. :)

That's a great reason to use them! Nice buck!

I got them for coyote calling. They fold up and fit easy in the bag I used to haul my electronic call and other gear. They work great for calling, much better than any attached bi-pod I tried.

I have never used a bi-pod. When I go for my walks I carry my bog-pod and I set it for a kneeing shot. I used it to get my cow Elk this fall and it works great in my situations here in the flat lands

Blessings,
Dan
