I have tryed IMR 4064, not great results, Varget with horrible results, and H4895 with some good results, Im getting some vertical stuff with the 155 sierra and H4895 and some good groups with the nosler 168 and H4895 but I think I can get it better. So far it likes the H4895 but I will put 5 shots in a straight line up and down with the 155's and with the 168's it will group more in a clover leaf pattern and about the same size group just more in a circle.

So my choices of powder from Cabelas were reloader all the reloaders or BL-C (2) and I picked up the BL-C (2), my question is has anybody here had good luck with it? Or any suggestions to what I should try next?

I was looking for IMR 4895 because it was close to the H4895 and was hoping that just the little change would work, is this a completely wrong way to think about it?

I've had excellent results with it.
47gr BLC2
cci br2
150gr NBT
both Win and RP brass.
Shoots 1/8 with the BT, shoots like a shotgun with the NCC.

So is the bl-c 2 better with the lighter bullets or the heavier bullets usually?

BL-C(2) works well for me with the 110 gr Sierra varminter bullet. Excellent accuracy.

I'm surprised that you had poor results with Varget and the .308 Win. Have been to long-range matches where nearly everyone was shooting Varget loads with their .308's and the competition was hot... Anyone's rifle & loads could have won... Varget responds well with higher charges as shown in the Nosler and Hodgdon manuals. Not necessarily so good with the modest charges shown in the Sierra manual.

Regards, Guy

Varget has not worked for me in either barrel, like its horrible, I wouldnt even call it a group what it shot last weekend, I might try 4064 again but with the 155s just cuz I have some left, I like those 155s but all I can ever find is the 168s. If the BL-C 2 does not work what else can I try for 155 or 168 grain bullets? And I have some 175 match kings left but will they stabilize in my 1-12 twist?

Try some RL15 works really good with 165/168 gr have not tried with 150/155 but should work.

If it doesn't like Varget, give IMR4064 a try or RL15 as mentioned. 4895 is also another classic combo.

I have gotten my best accuracy with Rel 15 and Norma 202,and yes I have tried all the powders mentioned.Varget is also an excellent sub MOA powder, but didn't preform as well in my two rifles as the ones I mentioned.

You may want to try to find out if your rifle wants a faster powder/orslower powder. Take and try some H-322 @40 gr for the 155, then try some H414 @ 49 gr /155. Make sure everything else is exactly the same, same brass make, same primers, same Oal. I'd load 9 rounds of each and shoot 3(3 group targets with each). These powders are at both ends of the spectrum suitable for a .308 . The 322 burns faster than varget or blc-2, the414 burns slower than varget, but not as slow as 4350. This info should tell you if your problem is powder related, or if you have another problem. I reload for 165 & 180 gr. bullets in a winchester rifle and it is a very forgiving round. RL-15, H-4320, and even H-4350, all shot well.

The Sierra .30cal 168 BT match king bullet is most accurate bullet I have ever fired. That bullet is as close to perfect as I have found. For hunting I use the Nosler 165 Ballistic Tip.

I use BLC-2 with 168 grain Sierra MK to duplicate the Federal Gold medal Factory load. Extremely accurate with my Tactical rifle. I prefered the 155 grain Scenar though, stoked with Varget, for extreme long range shooting. Watch out for BLC-2! They're highly sensitive to temperature change.

I finally got 500 rounds or .308 brass. It is Rem but who cares.I am glad to have it!!

I've got 20+ loading with Rem brass in my STW. Although, on average I prefer Winchester, I've had nothing but good luck with Remington brass.
