I was wondering if a .270 Win. is ok for black bear.
If you have any particular loads feel free to share them.

I have several shells loaded with 130 grain Ballistic Tips pushed by 48.0 grain of IMR 4350.
I am also currently working up some loads for 130 Barnes TSX, which I am going to use if I can get them correct before the day i go hunting.

Hopefully the BT's will be enough so that I am not rushed to produce a load for the TSX.

I have used the BT's on deer and had terrific results, but my buddy told me that he shot his with a 150 gr 30-06 bullet and it got up and ran 100 yards befor expiring. He neglected to tell me that all he hit was the liver.

I have only shot one black bear . With a 308 and a 180 core lokt. Worked great. Hit just under the chin head on and found the bullet in the rear leg. 250 yards. The bear squares six feet as a rug on my wall.

I would not hesitate to use a 270. I would go with any Partition in that caliber.

Thanks for the help guy's. I will be going on the hunt on Nov 25th. I will post pics if i'm succesful.

I am kind of dreading the eight mile hike to the camp.
The hunt is taking place on an old strip mine in boone county, WV.
