Blackhorn 209 is back

It’s funny, I used to be scared of plain old black powder. Once I got my 50/90 I realized how crazy I was. You can use a spit patch to clean the bore. I use Windex with Vinegar for deer cleans and some extra virgin olive oil to protect the bore. Wipe it down here and there, keep the bore protected and it’s pretty easy. I use Swiss 1.5 FG for my stuff but after realizing it isn’t going to rust my rifle in half in 2 days I’m kinda liking it.
I like black powder as you do. Prefer it to Pyrodex. It's not hard to clean up after shooting either. Just make sure to remove all the fouling. Have tried different solutions over the years but one I use a lot I found in Muzzle Blasts magazine years ago uses Murphys Oil Soap, rubbing alcohol (90%) and hydrogen peroxide mixed in equal parts. Put on patches, put some in a container to soak nipples, cleanout screws whatever. Dry then use what works best for you as protectant. I like Barricade followed with a patch coated with Rig. That will last for years.
