not to sound dumb but i was wondering what "BMG" stands for in relation to the 50 cal BMG??? thanks

Browning Machine Gun, John Browning invented the 50 cal machine gun for the military. The 50 BMG was designed in 1921 and went into service in 1932. It is still used today as a long range sniper rifle.
