Got sick of this butterfly landing on my target this morning...hit him behind the front shoulder with a 300gr SMK. Not much left to eat lol. He was ruining my concentration so ruined his right back!

Nice shooting buddy! Any fragmentation.. I know those Sierra MK's are sketchy on heavy boned butterflies!

So now the Sierra is a butterfly bullet? I thought it was bad enough using 300 grains of Sierra on a rock chuck a couple of months ago!

Good shooting Deer Tracker.

Sierra is a butterfly bullet? I don't know if they will include that picture in the next Sierra manual. Some fine shooting, DT.

First of all - didn't you read where Sierra specifically states that the SMK is NOT a game bullet?

I'd also be interested to know if you had a valid tag for that butterfly.

I'd try some more culling of the species before I settled on that SMK. That might have been a cow butterfly and like Scotty was saying, a heavier boned bull butterfly may require more penetration for the shoulder shots. IMO

This thread is shaping up to be as good as the one offering a wedding dress that Kurt didn't want.

I know the SMK isn't a game bullet but he/she didn't go far at all. Blood trail was easy to follow lol
