YUP that explains the wanted ad my Friend - and yes Now i can use POINTED bullets besides the Horn BUBBLE GUM points ! I like how Fast and Smooth the BLR action is compared to the my Marlin 95g - 45-70 Also like the clip/mag too !

Cheers RJ

Congrats on that rifle. Should be a pretty cool rifle to develop loads for. Post up any results. I would imagine RL7 will work, along with any of the 45-70 powders. Good luck.

I've shot the 450 Marlin; it can be quite accurate. It is a hammer on game, that is for certain. Congratulations on picking up an interesting cartridge in an excellent rifle.

Here you go!

Rem Jim - I "know" a fellow who posts on a couple of the lever-gun forums who is a gee-whiz with the .450 Marlin. At one point he was getting close to marketing his own line of ammo. He built a variety of loads, and loaned out his rifle, a .450 Marlin, to several different hunters who took a variety of big game. He also took a huge water buffalo, and did some surprisingly long-range shooting with it as well.

Never met him in person, 'cause he's 3,000 miles away back on the east coast, but doggone, he seems to know his way around that .450 Marlin cartridge. Let me know if you want his contact info. Good guy, and real smart about rifles in general and that cartridge in particular. He's got the differences between it and the .45/70 all figured out - well above my knowledge!

BTW - that should be one heck of a modest range thumper for ANYTHING in North America.

He's the guy.

Can often find him on the Marlin Owners Forum, or on Levergunlovers.com

Thks GUYS - i have being shootin a Marlin 95G JM for the past 13 years and i do like it but since i got the BLR 358 Win i like the BLR's much more - Much smoother - Faster action - triggers WELL ? I will have to work on that ! LOL I am looking forward to load developement and see how it stacks up against the 45-70 - the 450 Marly holds less powder then the 45-70 BUT can operate at a lot higher pressure ! I have some very GOOD big power loads for the 45-70 - so we will see. The load data Fotis has there has some THUMPER loads listed ! I belong to the Marlin forum and there is a great deal of info there all right ! Time for more fun ! Thks GUYS

Cheers Guys RJ

Congratulations on the BLR 450 Marlin.
It will be a dream to carry and handle. With the right bullet and load, you are covered for anything in NA.

Post a picture of your BLR.

RJ, it will likely be slightly less than a handloaded 45-70 but still great. The spitzer bullets are a plus, I think Barnes makes some pointy bullets if I remember right. I haven't handled too many Marlins but the BLR I had was very slick like you said, great guns. Maybe I should get a BLR 358 Win one day :)

You realize that you will have to change your signature line now :)
